Product Description

What this part is

A Timken 359A/354A matched single-row tapered roller bearing set — the 359A cone (inner ring with tapered rollers and cage) together with its 354A cup (outer race). Bore 1-13/16 in, outside diameter 3.347 in.

Decoding the designation

359A and 354A are the cone and cup halves of one lapped inch set. The A suffix on each number denotes a Timken design revision of the base 359 and 354 sections; the revised halves are used together as a pair.

What these specs mean in practice

Cone and cup raceways are lapped as a set at manufacture, so the pair carries the matched roller path and the published endplay range. A single-row tapered roller bearing takes radial load together with thrust in one direction, reacted through the cup back face, which is why the position is normally built as an opposed pair.

Quantity and configuration

Complete single-row set: one 359A cone and one 354A cup. Sold as 1 Pc.

Fitting notes

The cone is an interference fit on the journal against a square shoulder and the cup presses into the housing bore; endplay or preload is set at assembly against the opposed bearing.

Interchange guidance

The base 359/354 halves share the envelope but predate the A revision, which makes them a related size rather than a proven interchange for this pair.
