A set of three super-precision angular contact ball bearings in the 45 mm bore × 85 mm outside diameter × 19 mm width envelope, the ISO 7209 size. Single row each, machined cage, universally ground so any combination of them reaches its specified preload when clamped solid.
In the RHP scheme the absence of an angle letter is itself the angle code: a 7209 with no C and no E is a 40° contact angle. The alternate number 7209B on the same carton agrees, the B code denoting 40° in the German and Japanese schemes for this envelope. T is the machined phenolic cage, DUL is duplex universal with light preload, and P6 is the precision class equivalent to ABEC 3. A third designation, 7209TUEP3, carries RHP’s own EP-series class marking.
A 40° contact angle is the thrust-biased extreme of the angular contact range. Axial capacity and axial stiffness rise with the angle, so a 40° bearing takes far more thrust than the 15° or 25° versions of the same size, and takes correspondingly less radial load at a lower limiting speed. It is the choice where thrust dominates and speed is moderate. Light preload adds the least heat of the three preload grades. P6 is a general-precision class rather than a spindle class, which places this set in accurate machinery and gearbox duty rather than in a high-speed grinding spindle.
Each bearing carries radial load together with thrust in one direction only. Two bearings mounted opposed locate a shaft axially in both directions; bearings mounted in tandem act together in the same direction at increased capacity.
3 Pcs. Three universally ground bearings, supplied without spacers, locknut or housing.
Universal grinding means these bearings stack back-to-back, face-to-face or in tandem in any combination and arrive at the specified light preload with no shimming or hand grinding. Three universally ground bearings allow a two-plus-one arrangement, two in tandem against a third, which is the standard way to bias thrust capacity in one direction while retaining location in the other. The rings are clamped solid so the ground relief sets the preload.
RHP super-precision designations cross-reference directly to NSK, which acquired RHP and continued the numbering. The same-spec equivalents are NSK 7209BTDULP6 and FAG 7209B.TVP.P6. A 7209C at 15° or a 7209E at 25° shares this envelope but is a related size rather than a substitution, as is any P5 or P4 class version.
