Decoding the designation

RCJTC is the Fafnir Industrial-series two-bolt flanged housed unit with a concentric locking collar; the same housing with an eccentric collar carries the designation RCJT. The trailing 5/8 is the shaft size in inches. In the insert number GC1010KRRB, the GC prefix marks the relubricatable wide-inner-ring insert built for a concentric collar, 1010 encodes the 10/16 in – that is 5/8 in – bore, KRR denotes the wide inner ring with two contact seals, and B adds a snap-ring groove and retaining ring on the outer ring.

Locking collar type

A concentric collar clamps square to the shaft: it is set in any angular position and held by two setscrews spaced around its circumference, so it locates the shaft without the angular offset a cam collar introduces and it grips the same in either direction of rotation. An eccentric collar instead relies on cam action in the direction of rotation. Fitting notes

The flange face seats against a flat rigid vertical surface, shimmed where the face is uneven, with the two bolts drawn up evenly on 3.000 in centres. The collar is slid onto the extended inner ring and its two setscrews are tightened in sequence. The insert is relubricatable through the G-series grease path.

The replacement insert for this housing is the Fafnir GC1010KRRB. RCJT5/8 is the eccentric-collar version of the same two-bolt flange envelope.
