Double-row spherical roller bearing, 160 mm bore x 290 mm OD x 80 mm wide, ISO 222 dimension series. Self-aligning — accommodates shaft misalignment and deflection that would destroy a rigid bearing. Bore type and clearance class need confirming before ordering; see below.

| Manufacturer Status | SNR is a French manufacturer, now trading as NTN-SNR. The 22232 envelope remains in current production. |
| Additional Attributes | IMPORTANT: the bore type, cage material, clearance class and W33 groove on this bearing are NOT confirmed. The source data implied K/MB/C3/W33 but we could not verify it against a manufacturer source and will not publish a guess. Bore type in particular decides fittability — a tapered bore cannot be pressed onto a parallel shaft, it needs a 1:12 seat or an adapter sleeve. Please contact us before ordering and we will read the carton and ring etching. A second SNR 22232 in the same envelope under a different variant code is also in our stock. |

A double-row spherical roller bearing, 160 mm bore, 290 mm outside diameter, 80 mm width. The outer ring carries a single spherical raceway, letting the roller-and-inner-ring assembly swivel inside it. SNR is the French bearing maker now trading as NTN-SNR.
222 — the ISO 222 dimension series, the wider and higher-capacity of the common spherical series.
32 — ISO bore code 32, giving a 160 mm bore. The full 22232 designation therefore describes the 160 x 290 x 80 mm envelope, which agrees with the dimensions recorded for this item.
VKF107 — an SNR internal variant code. We were unable to confirm its meaning against an SNR or NTN-SNR source, so we have not translated it into specifications.
What we could not confirm, and why it matters:
The source data for this item carried the cross-reference “22232-K-MB-C3-W33”, which would imply a 1:12 tapered bore (K), a machined brass cage (MB), C3 internal clearance and a W33 outer-ring oil groove. We could not verify any of that against a manufacturer source, so we are not publishing it as fact.
These are not cosmetic details. A tapered-bore bearing cannot be pressed onto a parallel shaft — it needs a 1:12 shaft seat or an adapter sleeve with a lock nut — so getting the bore type wrong makes the bearing unfittable. Clearance class similarly has to match the mounting method and the operating temperature; a mismatch fails in both directions, too tight or too loose. And W33 determines whether you can relubricate through the housing.
Please contact us before ordering and we will read the carton and the ring etching and confirm the bore type, cage, clearance class and W33 groove. We would rather do that than publish a guess.
What we can state with confidence is the reason you would choose this type at all. Spherical roller bearings accommodate several tenths of a degree of misalignment between shaft and housing without edge-loading the rollers, and they carry very high radial load for their size. That combination makes them the standard choice for long shafts that deflect under load, split or separately-machined housings, and equipment mounted on structures that move — conveyors, fans, crushers, screens, mill drives.
Dynamic and static load ratings and limiting speeds are deliberately blank. NTN-SNR publishes ratings per exact designation — 22232EAW33, 22232EAKW33 and 22232EMKW33 all differ by cage and bore type — and until the VKF107 variant is resolved we cannot say which set applies. Quoting a neighbouring variant’s numbers would be a guess dressed as a specification. Contact NTN-SNR with the full designation if a certified rating is required.
The original listing stated this bearing was “manufactured in Italy”. SNR is a French manufacturer, headquartered and historically producing at Annecy, and no Italian origin marking is recorded against this item. We have removed the origin claim rather than publish an unsupported one.
Establish the bore type first — see above. If parallel, the bearing is an interference fit on the shaft and is mounted by heating, typically with an induction heater, never by driving through the rollers. If tapered, it mounts by controlled drive-up on a taper seat or adapter sleeve, measured as radial clearance reduction or axial advance; guessing the drive-up figure is the commonest way these bearings are destroyed at installation.
ISO base number 22232. Current NTN-SNR equivalents in this envelope include 22232EAW33 (straight bore) and 22232EAKW33 (tapered bore), with EM and EMK variants carrying a machined brass cage, and C3 available on both. Match the bore type, cage and clearance class, not just the 22232 root. We hold a second 22232 in this same envelope under a different SNR variant code — ask if you need a specific configuration and we will compare the two in hand.
