A Steyr 22209 double–row spherical roller bearing, 45 mm bore x 85 mm outside diameter x 23 mm wide, with a straight cylindrical bore. Two rows of symmetrical barrel rollers run on a single concave outer raceway, so the inner ring, rollers and cage swivel as an assembly inside the outer ring. That is what makes the bearing self–aligning: it carries heavy radial load plus axial load in both directions while tolerating shaft deflection and housing misalignment that would wreck a ball bearing. Sold as 1 Pc.

C3 is the clearance you pick when the bearing will run hot, sit on an interference–fit shaft, or both. The extra cold clearance gets eaten by thermal growth of the inner ring, so the bearing arrives at sensible running clearance once it is up to temperature. Put a C3 bearing where the design wanted normal clearance and it runs noisier and lets the shaft wander; put a normal–clearance bearing where C3 was specified and it can preload itself solid as it warms and fail early. Match what came out of the machine.
W33 matters as soon as the housing is plumbed for grease or oil. The groove and its three holes let lubricant in from the outside diameter, straight to the rollers, which is how a housing with a relubrication fitting is designed to feed the bearing. Without W33 the grease has to work its way in from the ends instead.
The bore is straight and cylindrical, so this one mounts directly on the shaft. No adapter sleeve is involved — that is only the case on the K and K30 tapered–bore versions.

One bearing per order — 1 Pc. What ships is a single complete bearing: outer ring, both roller rows, cages and inner ring as one non–separable unit. No adapter sleeve, lock nut, withdrawal nut or housing is included, and a cylindrical–bore bearing needs none of them.
Press only on the ring taking the interference fit and never drive mounting force through the rollers. The bearing self–aligns, so the housing bore does not have to be perfectly square to the shaft, but the outer ring still needs support across its full width or the roller ends will edge–load. Where the shaft has to grow, leave this outer ring free to slide in the housing and let the other bearing on the shaft do the locating.
The 22209 E envelope is shared by every major maker, so SKF 22209 E, FAG 22209–E1–XL, NSK 22209EAE4, NTN 22209EAD1, Nachi 22209EXW33, Koyo 22209RHRW33 and Timken 22209EJW33 all fit the same 45 x 85 x 23 seat. Beyond the size, match two things when you substitute: the clearance class, which is C3 here and not normal, and the W33 lubrication feature. A part carrying the same base number but normal clearance or no lube groove is a related size on the same envelope, not a like–for–like replacement. Steyr bearing production passed to SKF Austria, so SKF is the route to current supply.
