Product Description

What this part is

This is an SNFA EX50 super-precision angular contact ball bearing with a 50 mm bore, 80 mm outside diameter and 16 mm width, open on both faces. SNFA is a French super-precision bearing maker, now part of the SKF group, building bearings for machine tool spindles and other high-speed precision rotating assemblies.

Decoding the designation

EX is SNFA’s series prefix and the 50 is the bore in millimetres. The 50 x 80 x 16 mm envelope corresponds to the ISO 7010 size in the 70 light dimension series, which is why the bearing is commonly cross-listed as a 7010.

What these specs mean in practice

An angular contact ball bearing takes thrust in one direction along with radial load, and a single row must be opposed by a second bearing to locate a shaft in both directions. The light 70 series keeps the outside diameter and width compact for a 50 mm shaft, which is what makes this envelope common in spindle noses where housing space is fixed by the surrounding design. Super-precision bearings of this family are selected for running accuracy and speed rather than for maximum load capacity.

Quantity and configuration

Single bearing, 1 Pc. Straight bore, mounting directly onto a cylindrical shaft seat.

Fitting notes

Bearings of this class expect a ground and dimensionally controlled shaft and housing seat, and are handled clean. Mounting is done without heating or impact, with force applied through the ring being fitted rather than across the balls. The rings have a distinct wide face and narrow face, and the direction they are fitted determines which way the bearing takes thrust.

Interchange guidance

The genuine interchange is another SNFA EX50. The 7010 envelope is shared by SKF 7010 CD/P4A, FAG B7010-C-T-P4S and NSK 7010CTRP4, all 50 x 80 x 16 mm, but those designations publish a 15° contact angle and a stated precision class where this one does not, so they are same-envelope related sizes rather than confirmed substitutions.
