What these specs mean in practice

Tapered rollers carry heavy radial and axial load together, and the back-to-back arrangement sets the two load lines apart so the pair also resists tilting moments – the standard build for a machine-tool or rolling-mill spindle that has to hold a shaft rigid in five degrees of freedom. The matched spacers are what make the preload repeatable: the cup and cone spacers are ground as a pair to set the exact axial clamp across the two bearings, so the set comes up to its designed preload when the nut is tightened. P5 precision holds raceway runout tight enough for that preload to be even around the circumference.

What ships in the box

Two complete bearings, each with its cone and its cup, plus the matched cup and cone spacer set. Seals, lock nuts and shims are supplied separately.

Quantity and configuration

Fitting notes

The set is installed with the two cups back-to-back in the housing, the cup spacer between them, and the cone spacer between the two cones on the shaft. The spacers are ground to this set and stay with it, since swapping in another spacer changes the preload. Cups are pressed square into the housing bore and cones drawn up on the shaft with the specified nut torque.

Interchange guidance

Interchange requires the same HR high-capacity internal design, the same P5 precision, the DB arrangement and a matched spacer set of the same ground length. A standard 32214J at normal precision fits the same envelope but has a different roller complement and no matched spacers, so it is a related size rather than an interchange. A single 32214 bearing on its own does not reproduce this set.
