A Bower 663 tapered roller bearing cone from the 655 series — the inner ring complete with twenty tapered rollers on a stamped steel cage, for a 3-1/4 inch straight-bore shaft. This is one half of a Type TS single-row tapered roller bearing.
Cone only. A tapered roller cone does not include its cup and will not run without one. The mating cup for a 663 is a 653. Order both if you need the pair; complete sets can be supplied on request. Do not run this cone against a cup outside its published pairing — the raceway angle and roller path are matched between the halves.
663 is the cone number and 653 is its cup; the pair is quoted as 663/653, in the 655 series. Bower is a legacy US bearing brand (Bower / BCA, later Federal-Mogul), and 663 is an industry-standard number, so the same part is offered under Timken, Koyo, NTN and SKF numbering with identical boundary dimensions.

Ratings are the published figures for the complete 663/653 assembly, quoted here so you can size the position, not as a claim about a cone alone.
This is a heavy industrial size: 75,300 lbf static on a 3-1/4 inch shaft. Positions like that are usually gearbox output shafts, crusher and conveyor pulley shafts and axle ends, where the bearing is doing structural work as much as rotating work.
The K factor of 1.43 is a relatively shallow ratio, meaning the cone is biased toward radial capacity rather than thrust. The Ca90 of 10,100 lbf against a C90 of 14,400 lbf shows the same thing numerically — plenty of thrust for a normal opposed pair, but do not use this series as a thrust bearing in disguise.
Take note of the backing diameters if you are machining a shaft or housing. The shoulder that supports a cone backface has to be at least the db figure and clear of the “to clear” radius, or you crush the ring face rather than supporting it — the single most common cause of an early failure on a bearing this size.
Sold as 1 pc — one cone. No cup, no spacer, no seal.
Heat or press the cone on square with the load taken on the inner ring backface only, never through the rollers. Fit the 653 cup in the housing driving on the cup face. Set the opposed pair to the endplay or preload the equipment maker specifies, turning the assembly as you adjust so all twenty rollers seat against the large rib. Ensure lubricant reaches the large end of the rollers, which is the direction a taper pumps oil.
663 is an industry-standard cone number: Timken 663, Koyo 663, NTN 663, SKF 663 and Bower / BCA 663 all share the 3.2500 in bore and 1.6250 in cone width and all pair with a 653 cup. Related, not interchangeable: a -3, *3 or #3 suffix denotes a Class 3 precision cone, a T-suffix version has a tapered bore, and a 653D cup would be a double cup for a two-row arrangement.
