A narrow slot take-up bearing unit for a 1-3/4 in (44.45 mm) shaft. The insert is a 209 series wide-inner-ring steel ball bearing in a powder-coated cast iron take-up housing, locked to the shaft with 65° setscrews. It slides in a Dodge NS narrow-slot take-up frame and is a non-expansion build.
NSTU – Narrow Slot Take-Up housingSC – Setscrew locking, Cast iron housing, standard-duty ball insert112 – bore size code, 1-3/4 in
This is the single most important thing on the page. A take-up unit is a cartridge that slides along a slot in a steel take-up frame, and the housing must match the width of that slot. A narrow-slot NSTU housing will not drop into a wide-slot WSTU frame, and a WSTU housing will not fit an NS frame. Bore size does not save you — a correct 1-3/4 in bore in the wrong slot family is a useless part. This unit is built for the 3.985/4.015 in frame rail slot fit of the Dodge NS-400 series frames. Measure the slot in your frame before ordering, every time. It is the most common ordering mistake on take-up units and it is entirely avoidable with a tape measure.
Static load rating: 4,906 lb (209 series)Dynamic load rating: not published in available sources for this unit, so it is deliberately left blank rather than estimated. If your calculation depends on an L10 life figure, request the current Dodge sheet before specifying.Maximum speed: 3,000 rpm (SC narrow-slot family)Bore: 1-3/4 in (44.45 mm)Frame rail slot fit: 4.015 / 3.985 inTake-up adjustment band for this size: 1-23/32 in to 3-3/64 inWeight: 4.7 lbDimensions from the Dodge SC narrow-slot dimension table, 209 row: 1.94 / 5.44 / 0.313 / 3.00 / 3.25 / 7/8 / 0.72 / 1.22 / 1.63 / 2.22 in
The item number carried on this listing is 125258. Dodge’s published catalogue number for NSTU-SC-112 is 125371, with 068184 shown for the non-lube version. 125258 does not appear in Dodge’s published NSTU-SC table. We are reporting it as a legacy or alternate cross-reference and an unconfirmed item number rather than declaring it an error — supplier and legacy numbering for Dodge has shifted repeatedly through the Rexnord, Baldor, ABB and RBC transitions. If you are matching a purchase order to a Dodge catalogue, quote 125371.
The 1-23/32 in to 3-3/64 in adjustment band is the range of travel the unit gives you along the frame. That is what you actually have to work with for belt or chain tensioning, and it is worth checking against how much stretch your belt is expected to take up over its service life — if you are near the end of travel at installation you will be re-cutting the belt sooner than you want. The DualGuard single-lip contact seal with flinger handles ordinary plant dust and splash; it is not a washdown seal. Non-expansion means this unit locates the shaft, so pair it with an expansion bearing at the other end if the shaft runs warm.
One unit in stock. Note that a take-up frame typically uses two units, one each side. If you need a pair, ask before ordering — a single unit suits a spare or a one-side replacement.
Confirm slot width first, then bore. Set both take-ups on a shaft to the same position so the shaft stays square to the belt line. Tighten setscrews alternately to spec; over-torquing one screw pulls the insert off-centre. Grease at intervals appropriate to speed and environment rather than on a fixed calendar.
New old stock, made in USA, open box. Bearing is unused; packaging may show shelf wear.
Dodge mounted bearings were originally Rexnord, then Baldor, then ABB, and are now Dodge Industrial under RBC Bearings. Search forms in circulation include NSTU-SC-112, NSTUSC112, NSTU SC 112, item 125258 (legacy), 125371 (current Dodge number) and 068184 (non-lube version). Cross-shop only against other narrow-slot 209-series take-up units, and verify the slot fit.
