A double-row spherical roller bearing, 50 mm bore x 90 mm outside diameter x 23 mm wide, in the ISO 222 dimension series. Two rows of barrel rollers share one spherical outer raceway, so the inner ring and roller set swivel bodily inside the outer ring. That self-aligning action absorbs shaft deflection and housing misalignment that would wreck a cylindrical roller or deep groove ball bearing in the same envelope, while carrying very heavy radial load plus thrust in both directions.

E — here is the one that catches people out. On Nachi, E denotes the standard internal design, not an increased-capacity one. Nachi’s high-capacity code is EX. On SKF, FAG, NTN and NSK an E means the opposite — an uprated design — so a buyer cross-shopping by suffix will read this bearing as something it is not. Brand nomenclature beats industry convention every time, and this is a textbook case.
W33 — annular lubrication groove around the outer ring plus lubrication holes through it. On Nachi neither the groove nor the holes are standard, so W33 is a specified feature here. Nachi’s W20 code means holes only, without the groove.
C3 — radial internal clearance greater than Normal.
There is no K in the designation, so the bore is straight and cylindrical.
C3 clearance is the reason to choose this variant. It runs looser than Normal when cold so that useful working clearance still remains once the inner ring has grown from a tight shaft interference fit and from operating heat. Fit C3 where the shaft fit is heavy, where the bearing sits in a hot housing, or where the outer ring is clamped in a housing that also grows. Drop a Normal-clearance bearing into a C3 application and it preloads itself, runs hot and fails early; fit C3 where the machine relies on tight clearance for shaft location and you lose running accuracy and gain noise. Clearance is a fit decision rather than a quality grade, and it fails in both directions if mismatched.
The outer-ring groove and holes let grease or oil be fed straight into the roller rows through the housing instead of relying on lubricant creeping in from the ends. Relubrication is the single biggest lever on spherical roller bearing life, so on any machine that gets greased in service this feature is worth having. It does need a housing whose lubrication port lines up with the groove; in a plain housing bore it simply goes unused.
The straight bore means the bearing mounts directly onto a plain shaft seat. It is not a sleeve-mount bearing, which is the practical difference between this and a 22210K.
Sold as 1 Pc. One complete bearing: inner ring with both roller rows and cage, plus the outer ring. Spherical roller bearings ship as a non-separable assembly, so there is no cup, cone or separate ring to buy alongside. Because the bore is straight, no adapter sleeve, locknut or lockwasher is needed or included.
Mount on the inner ring and never drive through the rollers. Heat the bearing to roughly 80 – 100 °C above the shaft in an induction heater or a clean oil bath rather than pressing it on cold, because a bearing this size takes a genuine interference fit. Seat the outer ring squarely in the housing and let it find its own alignment before the assembly is drawn down — clamping the outer ring off-neutral during build throws away the self-aligning capability. Line the housing lubrication port up with the outer-ring groove and purge the groove with grease before the first run. If you are replacing a Normal-clearance bearing with this C3 one, check the shaft and housing fits before assuming it is a straight swap.
Dimensionally equivalent straight-bore 22210 bearings with the outer-ring groove and holes include SKF 22210 E, FAG 22210-E1-XL, NSK 22210EAE4, NTN 22210EAW33, NTN-SNR 22210EAW33, Timken 22210EJW33 and RHP 22210EJW33 — specify C3 clearance on any of them to match this part. The lubrication codes differ by brand but mean the same thing: W33 on SKF, Timken, RHP and Nachi, E4 on NSK, S on FAG, D1 on NTN Japan, B33 on legacy SNR. Two traps run the other way — SKF W alone means the groove and holes are absent, and on SKF and Schaeffler the modern E and E1 designs include them as standard with no suffix at all. Within Nachi’s own range, 22210EXW33C3 is the increased-capacity version of this same envelope: a genuine uprate rather than an equal, and worth quoting if the original duty was marginal. Any 22210K is the tapered-bore version and needs an H310 adapter sleeve on a 45 mm shaft, so it is a related size rather than a substitute.
