A Dodge Tigear-2 right-angle worm gear speed reducer in the 2.31 in centre-distance frame, 25:1 nominal ratio, with a NEMA 140TC C-face motor input and a hollow output bore. The hollow output is the distinguishing feature: instead of driving through a shaft of its own, the reducer slides onto the driven machine shaft, which removes a coupling, a shaft alignment job and the space they occupy. This is the shaft-mount arrangement used on conveyor head shafts, augers, mixers and agitators.

A hollow-output box has no output shaft. You supply the driven shaft, and you need a torque arm or foot mounting to stop the housing rotating with it — a hollow-bore reducer hung on a shaft with nothing holding the case will simply spin. Check what reaction hardware you have before ordering.
25:1 is a high enough ratio to run genuinely slowly from a standard four-pole motor — roughly 70 rpm at the output from an 1800 rpm input — with the torque multiplication that goes with it. Higher-ratio worm sets are also less efficient, so allow for heat on continuous duty.
Do not assume self-locking. A worm set can back-drive depending on ratio, lubricant and load; if a load must be held, fit a brake motor or a separate brake.
The 140TC C-face input only accepts a 140TC motor. It is not a quill build and not a solid-input build.

One reducer. No motor is included, and no torque arm or shaft hardware unless shown — see the photographs for exactly which parts ship with it. New old stock.
Measure the hollow bore against your driven shaft and confirm the keyway before ordering. Fit and secure a torque arm or reaction foot before running. Check the oil level for the mounting position you intend to use, and run in under partial load before applying full torque — a 25:1 worm set generates real heat and wants a bedded-in gear face.
Solid-output builds in the 23 series (L and R codes) are the same reducer with an output shaft — a different mechanical arrangement, not a substitute for a hollow-bore unit. Other 23-series ratios share the housing and mounting but change the output speed. 20, 26 and 30 series units are different centre distances, so related sizes rather than equivalents. Dodge Tigear-2 now ships under Regal Rexnord with unchanged numbering.
