What this part is

A complete housed ball bearing unit in the two-bolt rhombus flange style. The one-piece cast iron housing takes two mounting bolts on a diagonal axis through the diamond-shaped flange. Bore is 1 in (25.400 mm). Locking is by an eccentric collar that seats on the extended inner ring, not by setscrews against the shaft.

Locking method

The eccentric collar has an off-centre bore. Slipping it onto the extended inner ring and rotating it in the direction of shaft rotation wedges collar against ring, and its own setscrew then holds that position. Drive torque tightens the grip rather than loosening it, which is why eccentric collars suit unidirectional drives and hold better on soft or worn shafting than a setscrew that must bite into the surface. A UC insert of the same size code uses two setscrews instead and is therefore a different locking style in the same envelope.

Fitting notes

The unit mounts against a flat rigid face, shimmed where uneven. The flange bolts are drawn down first so the spherical insert settles into its aligned seat, then the collar is rotated in the direction of shaft rotation and its setscrew tightened. Shaft seat is a commercial ground 1.000 in diameter.

Interchange guidance

Same-style two-bolt rhombus flange units with eccentric collar locking in 1 in bore: NTN UELFL205-100, NTN AELFL205-100 in the pressed-steel-housing line, Asahi UELFL205-100, FYH UELFL205-100. The setscrew-locking NTN UCFL205-100 and the four-bolt square NTN UCF205-100 share the 200-series envelope but use a different insert locking style or bolt pattern, so they are related sizes rather than interchanges.
