Decoding the designation

SNFA is the French super-precision marque now part of the SKF group, and this bearing carries three interchangeable designations. In the SNFA code EX35 gives the 35 mm bore, the 7 is the ABEC 7 tolerance class, and CE3 sets the contact angle at 25°, where CE1 would be 15°. The Fafnir equivalent stamped alongside it, 3MM9107WI, reaches the same place by a different route: 3MM denotes 25° and the 9100WI series maps to the ISO 70xx family, so 9107 is a 7007. The third marking, 7007-A P4, is the plain ISO designation with its precision class.

What these specs mean in practice

A 25° contact angle carries substantially more thrust than the 15° version of the same envelope, at the cost of some speed capability, which makes it the usual choice where a spindle sees heavy axial cutting loads rather than maximum rpm. The phenolic cage is light and forgiving of marginal lubrication. ABEC 7 tolerances control bore, outside diameter and running accuracy closely enough for the rings to be interference fitted without upsetting the preload geometry.

Fitting notes

Both rings mount by interference, the straight bore onto a ground spindle journal. Ring faces are ground for direct clamping, so stack order and clamp force set the resulting preload. Oil or a light spindle grease suits the phenolic cage.

Interchange guidance

Equivalent 25° super-precision 7007 executions include the Fafnir 3MM9107WI, the FAG B7007-E-T-P4S and the NSK 7007A5TR. The EX35-7CE1 and the 7007 CD share the 35 x 62 x 14 mm envelope but carry a 15° angle, which makes them related sizes rather than interchanges.
