RHP BSCU30080QUHP3, a ball screw support cartridge unit. Bore: 30 mm. Cartridge housing outside diameter: 88 mm. Cartridge overall length: 82 mm. Bearing outside diameter: 80 mm. Contains a quad set of 60° angular contact thrust ball bearings at heavy preload. Country of origin: United Kingdom.
BSCU is the RHP ball screw support cartridge unit family. 30080 is the bearing size code: 30 mm bore, 80 mm outside diameter. QU is a quad set, four bearings matched at the factory. H is heavy preload. P3 is the precision grade.
Contact angle: 60°. Ball screw support bearings run a steep angle because the load on a screw-end bearing is almost entirely axial. At 60° the ball contact line points close to the screw axis, which maximises axial rigidity and thrust capacity for a given envelope, at the cost of radial capacity and speed. Axial stiffness is what holds positioning accuracy on a servo feed axis: a soft screw-end bearing shows up directly as lost motion at the tool.
Arrangement: quad set, four bearings. Preload: heavy. Heavy preload removes all axial play and raises stiffness further, so the screw end is located rigidly in both directions and reverses without backlash. Because the set is preloaded, internal clearance does not apply. Precision grade: P3.
The cartridge unit supplies the bearings already mounted, spaced and preloaded inside their own housing, so the machine builder bolts one assembly to the screw-end bracket. That fixes the preload at the factory rather than at assembly, which is where a hand-built stack of four bearings usually loses its accuracy.
One cartridge unit, containing the factory quad set.
Searchable variants: BSCU-30080-QUH-P3, BSCU 30080 QUH P3, BSCU30080QUH, BSCU30080. The loose-bearing equivalent size in the same family is the RHP BSB030080 at 30 x 80 mm; NSK, which owns RHP, files the same size as BSF3080. A duplex or triplex set on the same size code carries DU or TU in place of QU and a different total stiffness, which makes it a related part rather than an interchange, and a different preload letter (L or M in place of H) changes the stiffness and running torque.
