A single-row angular contact ball bearing in the 70-series light dimension range, 70 mm bore, 110 mm outside diameter, 20 mm width. One raceway shoulder is relieved so the ball complement runs on a line inclined to the radial plane, which gives the bearing thrust capacity in one direction and calls for opposition by a second bearing or a shoulder on the other end of the shaft.
70 — single-row angular contact ball bearing, ISO dimension series 70 (light section).
14 — bore code, 14 × 5 = 70 mm bore.
C — 15° contact angle in the RHP and Timken scheme.
T — one-piece machined phenolic (fabric-reinforced laminate) cage, ball-riding.
P0 — normal tolerance class, equivalent to ABEC 1 / ISO class 0.
A 15° contact angle sits at the high-speed end of the angular contact range. The shallow angle keeps ball centrifugal loading and the gyroscopic moment low and reduces the axial deflection under a given speed, so the bearing tolerates higher surface speeds than a 25° or 40° variant of the same envelope. The trade is thrust capacity: the axial load a bearing can support rises with the contact angle, so a 15° bearing carries less thrust and more radial load than the 25° version of the same size.
The phenolic cage is the other speed-oriented feature. Laminated fabric is lighter than machined brass and self-lubricating against the balls, which suits oil-mist and grease-for-life spindle service, and it runs quietly. Its ceiling is temperature: phenolic is a moderate-temperature material and is not a high-heat cage.
The P0 tolerance class distinguishes this bearing from the super-precision members of the same series. Bore, outside diameter, width and running accuracy are held to normal ISO limits rather than the P4 / ABEC 7 limits used on ground spindle sets, which places it in general machine service – pumps, gearboxes, screw drives, fan and blower shafts, machine slides — rather than in a precision-ground spindle stack.
Bore: 70 mm (2.7559 in)
Outside diameter: 110 mm (4.3307 in)
Width: 20 mm (0.7874 in)
Rows: 1
Contact angle: 15°
Cage: machined phenolic laminate
Closure: open, both faces
Tolerance class: P0 (normal / ABEC 1)
Single bearing, 1 Pc. The designation carries no universal-grinding code and no preload letter, so the faces are ground to standard single-bearing dimensions rather than to a matched-set stack height.
The bearing is directional: the wide land face of the outer ring is the back face and takes the thrust. Mounting is normally against a shaft shoulder and a housing shoulder on the load side, with the opposing bearing clamped through spacers. Bore and housing fits follow the normal-class ISO tables, typically j5 to k5 on a rotating shaft and H6 to J6 in the housing.
The 7014C designation is the ISO base number and is shared by other makers of 15° angular contact bearings in this envelope. Same-envelope bearings with a different contact angle, tolerance class or preload grade — 7014AC and 7014ACD at 25°, and the P4 / P4S super-precision and universally ground duplex variants — are related sizes rather than equivalents, since angle, stack height and running accuracy differ.
