A matched pair of FAG B7008-C-TPA-P4-DUL super-precision angular contact spindle bearings. Single row each, 40 mm bore, 68 mm outside diameter, 15 mm width, open on both faces, with solid machined rings, large steel balls and a machined phenolic cage. Non-separable.

Decoding the designation

B is the FAG spindle bearing range with large-diameter balls. C is a 15° contact angle. TPA, written T in the current scheme, is a fabric-base laminate phenolic cage. P4 is the super-precision tolerance class, ABEC 7. DUL is a factory-matched duplex pair at light preload.

What these specs mean in practice

Each bearing carries a basic dynamic radial rating of 20.9 kN and a static radial rating of 11.2 kN. The 15° contact angle biases the design toward speed and radial stiffness rather than thrust capacity. Limiting speed is 22,000 rpm on grease and 34,000 rpm on minimal-quantity oil, the phenolic cage being the component that makes the higher figure available. Light preload gives defined ball contact with the least added friction and heat of the preload classes.

Fitting notes

The marked ring faces go together in the orientation the factory grind was made for, clamped square against a rigid shoulder. Clamping load passes through the rings. Upper operating temperature for the phenolic cage is 100 °C.
