Schaeffler’s own catalogue files this part under super-precision bearings for screw drives, in the axial angular contact ball bearings for screw drives family — not under general angular contact ball bearings. That classification is the single most important fact on this page.
Why this is not a 7206 — read this before you buy:
A standard 7206-type single-row angular contact ball bearing is also 30 × 62 × 16 mm. The envelope is identical, the bore and outside diameter interchange, and the two parts will physically drop into the same seat. They are nonetheless different bearings and are not substitutes for each other.
The difference is the contact angle. A 7206 B runs 40°; a 7206 in the C/E designs runs 15° or 25°. This 7602-series bearing runs 60°, which is outside the range any standard 7200/7300 angular contact bearing offers. Fit a 7206 where a 7602030 belongs and the screw loses axial stiffness and positioning accuracy; fit a 7602030 where a 7206 belongs and the bearing is being asked to carry radial load it was never rated for. The 7602 prefix is the tell — do not read it as a variant of 7206 or of 7602-as-7602x.
Why a ball screw support needs 60°, not 15° or 40°:
This is the reasoning that decides the specification, so it is worth stating plainly.
A ball screw converts rotation into linear thrust. Everything the screw does to its end bearing is axial: the feed force pushing the table, the cutting force reacting back down the screw, and the preload tension put into the screw to take out backlash. The radial load on a screw end journal is comparatively trivial — usually just the screw’s own weight and any small coupling misalignment. So the bearing’s job is not “support a shaft”; it is “resist thrust without moving.”
In an angular contact ball bearing, the contact angle is the angle at which the ball load line crosses the bearing axis. The shallower the angle, the more of the ball’s load path is radial; the steeper the angle, the more of it is axial. That drives three things at once:
Axial load capacity. At 60° almost the whole ball contact resolves into thrust, so a very high proportion of the bearing’s capacity is available axially. At 15° most of it is not.
Axial stiffness. This is the real reason, and it matters more than raw capacity. Positioning accuracy in a CNC feed axis is set by how far the screw moves under load before the machine notices. A steep contact angle deflects far less axially per newton of thrust than a shallow one, so a 60° bearing holds position under changing cutting load where a 15° bearing would let the axis wind up and lose microns. Stiffness, not strength, is what a feed screw is actually buying.
Speed and radial capability, given up in exchange. A steep angle increases ball spin and heat generation, so permissible speeds are far below those of a 15° spindle bearing, and radial capacity is low. That is an acceptable trade, because a feed screw turns at a few thousand rpm at most and carries essentially no radial load.
Hence 60°: it is the angle that maximises axial stiffness for a duty that is almost purely axial, and pays for it in speed and radial capacity that the application does not need.
7602 — Schaeffler’s series designation for single-row axial angular contact ball bearings for screw drives, 60° contact angle, without filling slots. The companion 7603 series is the filling-slot execution of the same concept, with more balls, higher axial capacity and correspondingly lower permissible speed.
030 — bore code, giving the 30 mm bore directly rather than by the ×5 rule used in the 7200/7300 series. This is another reason 7602030 must not be read as a 7206.
TVP — window-type cage moulded from glass-fibre-reinforced polyamide. Light, low-friction, quiet and forgiving of momentary lubrication starvation, at the cost of an upper temperature limit lower than a machined brass or phenolic cage would give.
Related suffixes on neighbouring parts, for reference: a -2RS variant of this bearing is the sealed execution and is a different part number; an -L055-style suffix denotes a factory lubrication specification. Neither is present here, so this bearing is open and supplied without a special lubrication code.

Note on how to read those load ratings: because this is an axial-duty bearing in Schaeffler’s screw-drive family, the published capacities apply to axial loading. One distributor mirror labels the same 27 500 N and 66 000 N figures as radial capacities, which is inconsistent with the bearing’s 60° classification — treat that labelling as a mirror error. Two different figures also circulate for speed: 6 700 r/min as the limiting speed and 3 800 r/min as a grease-lubricated thermally safe operating speed. Both are quoted here rather than picking one, because they answer different questions.

That said, screw support bearings are very often installed in multiples. A fixed screw end is commonly built up from two bearings back-to-back, or three in a tandem-plus-one arrangement, clamped by a locknut against a shoulder. If your machine’s bearing arrangement calls for a pair or a triple, order the corresponding number of pieces. Because this part is not supplied as a factory-matched set, an arrangement built from separate pieces must have its preload set by the mounting design — nut torque, spacer grinding, or the machine builder’s specified procedure — rather than being inherent to the bearings.
The inherited listing described this only as an “Angular Bearing” at 30x62x16 mm. That is the most consequential kind of error on a page like this: at that envelope, “angular contact bearing, 30 × 62 × 16” reads as a 7206, and a buyer would reasonably assume a 15°, 25° or 40° general-purpose bearing. It is in fact a 60° ball screw support bearing. The 60° contact angle, the screw-drive application class, the cage material and every load and speed rating were absent from the record and have been added. Legacy eBay boilerplate — the “CLICK HERE TO CONTACT US” block, a dead eBay store link, international and collect shipping promises, same-day and next-day shipping claims, and roughly thirty-nine nested font tags — has been removed. For the record, other catalogues get this part wrong too: at least one lists 7602030-TVP as a deep groove ball bearing and another as a thrust ball bearing. It is neither.
Screw support bearings live or die by how squarely they are mounted, because the whole point of them is axial rigidity. The shaft shoulder and the housing abutment face must be square to the axis; a cocked abutment converts axial stiffness into a wobble the control system cannot compensate. Clamp axially with the specified locknut and torque, and do not improvise preload — too little leaves the axis compliant, too much destroys the bearing’s life and generates heat that a polyamide cage will not tolerate indefinitely. Apply mounting force only to the ring being fitted, never through the balls, and never use heat beyond what a polyamide cage can survive; the +120 °C ceiling applies to installation as well as to running. Where two or three are stacked, all pieces should be from the same series and execution. Grease sparingly and respect the lubrication interval — an open bearing in a machine tool relies on the housing’s sealing, so make sure the enclosure keeps coolant and chips out.
Interchange for a screw support bearing is by series and contact angle, not by envelope. Cross-refer to other manufacturers’ 60° screw support ranges at the same 30 × 62 × 16 mm size: INA/Schaeffler carries the same 7602030-TVP part under the group’s own numbering, and equivalents exist in NSK’s TAC and NTN’s and NACHI’s screw support series.
