What this part is

A Torrington 22220KYMW33 double-row spherical roller bearing, 100 mm tapered bore by 180 mm outside diameter by 46 mm width. Two rows of barrel-shaped rollers run on a shared spherical outer raceway, giving self-alignment together with very high radial capacity and thrust capacity in both directions. It is a heavy-duty bearing for conveyor pulleys, vibrating screens, crushers, fans, gearboxes and mill machinery.

What these specs mean in practice

The spherical outer raceway lets the inner ring and roller set swivel inside the outer ring, so a shaft running a fraction of a degree out of line with its housing still loads the rollers evenly across their length. Fabricated frames and long conveyor shafts hold nothing better than that, which is why this bearing type is standard there.

Two opposed roller rows carry axial load in both directions as well as radial load, so a separate thrust bearing is usually unnecessary in the arrangement.

The 1:12 tapered bore is a mounting feature. The bearing is drawn up a matching taper and the drive-up distance sets the interference fit, which in turn sets the residual internal clearance. That gives repeatable clearance control on site with a hydraulic nut or a lock nut and a feeler gauge, and it allows the bearing to sit on a plain shaft with the sleeve doing the work.

The machined brass cage holds its shape at high temperature, resists aggressive oil additives, and takes shock and vibration better than a polymer cage — the reason brass-caged spherical rollers dominate vibrating screen and hot mill duty.

Quantity and configuration

One bearing ships. The adapter sleeve is not included — the tapered bore mounts on an H320 sleeve, which seats on a 90 mm cylindrical shaft, with a KM20 lock nut and MB20 lock washer. Housings, seals and locking hardware are supplied separately.

Fitting notes

Mounting is a drive-up operation: the bearing advances along the taper until the measured reduction in radial internal clearance reaches the value tabulated for the size and clearance class, checked with a feeler gauge across the unloaded top roller. On a shaft machined with its own 1:12 seat the bearing goes on directly and a lock nut retains it. The housing lubrication port aligns with the outer-ring groove so grease reaches the centre of the roller set.

Interchange guidance

Same-specification equivalents are tapered-bore 22220 K spherical rollers with a machined brass cage and W33 features: Timken 22220KEMW33 as the successor number, SKF 22220 CAK/W33, FAG 22220ASK.MB, NSK 22220CAMKE4, Link-Belt 22220KMBW33. The straight-bore 22220MW33 is a different part — it seats directly on a cylindrical shaft and takes no adapter sleeve.
