This is a GE Fanuc Series One Link I/O module — the remote-station half of a Series One remote I/O link. Its job is to sit in a rack away from the processor and exchange I/O data with the CPU over a serial link, so field devices at the far end of a machine or a plant can be wired locally instead of being cabled all the way back to the main panel.
The critical point about this module, and the thing that decides whether it is any use to you: it works only as a pair. The Link I/O module pairs with a Link Local module at the CPU end to make a working remote I/O link. A Link I/O module on its own is a spare for one half of an existing installation, not a remote I/O system.
IC610 — the GE Fanuc Series One family prefix.
CCM — the communications module class within Series One. This is the field that tells you the module’s job: CCM covers the serial-link and remote-I/O hardware, as distinct from CPU (processors), ABM (the ASCII/BASIC coprocessor), CHS (racks) and MDL (I/O).
111 — the specific module: the Link I/O (remote) module. Its close neighbours CCM105 and CCM110 are the Data Communications Unit and Link Local sides of the same family — genuinely different functions under adjacent numbers, which is why the three digits matter more than the family name.
E — hardware revision letter. Later letters supersede earlier ones within the CCM111 designation and are backward compatible in the same slot.

Earlier copy called this “a PLC input/output module” providing “communication between PLCs and peripheral devices”. Both halves are misleading. It carries no field I/O points of its own — it is the link module that carries other modules’ I/O data across a serial connection — and it is not a general-purpose peripheral interface: it talks to its Link Local partner in a Series One remote I/O link, not to arbitrary devices. If you want the module that connects a Series One to a computer or a serial device, that is the CCM105 / CCM110 Data Communications Unit territory; if you want the module that runs BASIC and drives a printer or barcode reader, that is IC610ABM100.
Remote I/O earns its keep on two kinds of machine: the long one, where running a hundred field wires back to a central panel is more expensive than a rack and a link; and the modular one, where a section of plant is built, wired and tested as a unit and then connected with a single cable. The trade you accept is update time — remote I/O is scanned across the link rather than off the local backplane, so it is slower than local I/O. Put fast interlocks and anything safety-related on local racks, and put the routine field devices out on the link. That is not a limitation of this module in particular; it is the nature of remote I/O, and designing around it is what makes a remote link reliable.
Because the link is serial and runs between cabinets, the link cable is the component that fails and the one that gets blamed last. Screened cable, a single grounding point and separation from motor wiring are the whole reliability story on a Series One link.
One module ships. No Link Local partner module, no rack or baseplate, no CPU, no power supply, no I/O modules, no link cable or mating connectors, and no documentation are included. To build a working link from scratch you need this module and its Link Local counterpart and a rack and supply at the remote end.
Power down and lock out both racks before inserting or removing the card — Series One modules are not hot-swappable and a live insertion can corrupt the CPU’s memory as well as damage the module. Seat the card fully so the backplane edge connector engages squarely, and clean the gold fingers with isopropanol and a lint-free wipe if the module has been in storage; on this generation of control, intermittent faults are more often a dirty edge connector than a failed board. Check the rail current budget: Series One power supplies are modest, so add up the draw of every module in the remote rack before committing the slot. Set any station-address or configuration switches to match the CPU-end configuration before power-up — a mismatched address gives you a link that reports a fault rather than one that half works. Run the link cable screened, ground the screen at one end only, and keep it out of any duct carrying motor or contactor wiring.
Searched as IC610CCM111E, IC610CCM111, IC610CCM111-E, IC610-CCM-111-E, IC610 CCM 111 E and Series One Link I/O module. Other revision letters of the same module are the closest cross-references — the revision letter is the only difference within the CCM111 designation. In the same block but functionally different: IC610CCM105 and IC610CCM110, the Data Communications Unit and Link Local modules; the CCM110 in particular is the partner to this module rather than a substitute for it, so it is well worth searching alongside. IC610ABM100 is the Series One ASCII/BASIC coprocessor and IC610CPU numbers are the processors — both listed so you can rule them out. Brand and support history for search reach: the platform ran as GE Series One, then GE Fanuc Automation, then GE Intelligent Platforms, and is supported today under Emerson. Series One is long obsolete with no factory replacement, so surplus stock and board-repair houses are the practical source. Note on branding: IC610 is a GE Fanuc prefix, not a Fanuc CNC prefix — the record’s title read “Fanuc” and has been corrected to GE Fanuc.
