An NTN UCFLUX-1.7/16 mounted ball bearing unit — a two-bolt cast flange housing for a 1-7/16 inch shaft, in the medium-duty size. The insert is a wide inner ring ball bearing with setscrew locking and a flinger behind the contact seal on each side. It seats spherically in the housing, so the unit takes up moderate misalignment at installation.
UC = NTN wide inner ring insert, setscrew locking, with flinger. FLU = flanged unit, cast housing, two bolt. X = medium duty (the X series, larger balls and a heavier insert than the standard 2 series). 1.7/16 = 1-7/16 inch shaft diameter.
FLU is a two-bolt flange. NTN’s four-bolt square flange is FU, and its cast rhombus flange is FA — different bolt patterns that will not sit in a two-bolt footprint. This is also not a pillow block (NTN P or PL). Bolt count and pattern are part of the housing style, so count the holes on the housing you are replacing rather than going by bore alone.

The X duty series is the reason to pick this over a plain UCFLU. Medium duty means a heavier insert and larger balls in the same nominal bore, so it carries more radial load and tolerates shock better on screw conveyors, crushers and other lumpy duty. It also means the housing is physically larger than the standard-series unit of the same bore, which is exactly the trap when substituting — check flange dimensions, not just the shaft size.
Setscrew locking is quick and holds in either direction of rotation, but it indents the shaft, so treat the position as fixed once it is set. The flinger behind each seal throws contamination away from the seal lip, which is why the UC insert outlasts a plain shielded bearing in dusty work.
Sold as 1 pc — one complete unit, cast flange housing with the insert and its setscrews fitted. Mounting bolts are not included.
Bolt to a flat, square face; a distorted mounting face preloads the spherical seat and consumes the misalignment allowance. Slide onto the shaft, position, then torque both setscrews evenly to the NTN figure. Rotate by hand, confirm the insert still swivels, and purge the grease path with fresh compatible grease before running.
Two-bolt flange units at 1-7/16 in bore also come from SealMaster (SF), Rexnord (KF), Hub City (FB), Dodge (F2B) and SKF (FYT). Flange face dimensions and bolt centres differ by maker, and the medium-duty envelope differs again, so measure before treating any of them as a drop-in. Related, not interchangeable: UCFLU-1.7/16 is the standard-duty version in a smaller housing, and UCFUX-1.7/16 is the same medium-duty insert in a four-bolt square flange.
