A double-row spherical roller bearing on the 22209 envelope — 45 mm bore, 85 mm outside diameter, 23 mm width. Both rows of barrel rollers run against a single spherical raceway ground into the outer ring. Because that raceway is a section of a sphere, the inner ring, rollers and cage can swivel bodily inside the outer ring, so the bearing carries very high radial load while tolerating shaft deflection and housing seats that are not perfectly coaxial.

What these specs mean in practice

There is no K in this designation, so the bore is cylindrical. It mounts straight onto a plain 45 mm shaft seat with an interference fit — no adapter sleeve, no drive-up measurement. That makes it the simpler 22209 variant to fit and the one to choose when the shaft has no taper.

C3 clearance cuts both ways, and matching it matters. Extra clearance is specified where the inner ring will run hot relative to the outer ring, or where the shaft fit is heavy, because both of those eat clearance in service. Put a C3 bearing into a machine designed around normal clearance and it runs loose, with rollers skidding through the unloaded arc; put a normal-clearance bearing where C3 was called for and it preloads itself as it warms and fails early. Fit the same class that came out.

The W33 groove and its three holes give you a relubrication path through the outer ring, delivering grease or oil directly between the two roller rows so both are fed evenly. It only does work if the housing has a lube port lined up on the groove — typically a split plummer block. In a plain housing the groove is harmless but inert.
