What these specs mean in practice

The lubrication groove and holes make the outer ring its own distribution gallery: lubricant entering through a housing port fills the groove and passes through the three holes directly into the roller path, so relubrication reaches the rolling contact of both rows rather than only the bearing faces. C3 clearance is greater than normal, and on a taper-bore bearing it also provides the working margin consumed when the bearing is driven up the taper — drive-up reduces internal clearance as the inner ring expands, so the starting clearance sets how far up the taper the bearing can go.

Fitting notes

Two mounting routes exist for a 1:12 taper bore. On a tapered shaft journal the bearing seats directly on the taper, retained by a locknut. On a plain cylindrical shaft it seats on an H318 adapter sleeve, whose own bore takes an 80 mm shaft seat, one bore-code step below the bearing bore. In either case drive-up distance sets the residual radial internal clearance, measured across the roller rows with a feeler gauge before and after tightening. The housing lubrication port aligns with the outer ring groove; because the groove runs the full circumference, outer ring orientation is unconstrained.
