What this part is

The V4055A1031 is an on-off fluid power actuator — Honeywell’s term for a hydraulically operated actuator whose internal pump lifts the valve stem and whose spring closes it on loss of power. It bolts to the bonnet of a Honeywell industrial gas shutoff valve body and drives it open and closed on a burner safety circuit.

Read this first: this is the actuator, not the valve:
The item pictured is the actuator head only. The underside is a hollow mounting collar with three setscrew bosses that clamps onto a valve bonnet — there is no pipe connection of any kind on this part. Pipe size belongs to the valve body it is fitted to, not to the actuator. A separate V5055 or V5097 valve body is required to make a working assembly, and one is not included here.

Why the 13-second opening time is deliberate

Slow opening is a safety feature, not a limitation. A gas safety shutoff valve is required to open gradually so the burner sees a controlled ramp of fuel, while the spring-and-dump close must be fast — hence the asymmetry between 13 seconds open and under one second closed. Any replacement must match the timing class the burner’s flame safeguard was commissioned around.

Compatibility and interchange

Used with V5055A, V5055B, V5097A and V5097B series valve bodies. Also written V4055A1031, V4055A-1031, V4055A 1031, V4055A1031/U. The record and the listing title also carry the designation V4055A-1031-3; that form is retained because it appears in the source data, but Honeywell’s own catalogue number for this actuator is V4055A1031.

Specifications deliberately left blank

Opening and holding current draw are printed on the nameplate but are not legible in the available photographs, and the gas types line is obscured by glare. Rather than borrow figures from a different V4055 variant, both are left blank — read them off the nameplate before sizing the control circuit.

Source-data note: the previous title and description stated 1″ NPT. This part has no pipe connection; the NPT size belongs to the V5055/V5097 valve body. That claim has been removed. The previous copy also placed the product in “hydraulic, pneumatic, pump and plumbing systems” — it is a gas train component for commercial and industrial burners. The 5 psi figure in the original title is correct and has been retained and explained.
