An AVENTICS Series AS1-BAV shut-off valve — a mechanically (hand) operated 3/2 valve that sits at the inlet of a modular G1/4 air preparation unit. Turned to the closed position it blocks the supply port and vents everything downstream to atmosphere through the exhaust, so cylinders drop and the manifold depressurises before maintenance. It is an air-prep module, not an inline pipe valve: it clips into the AS1 modular chain with the same connection plate system as the AS1 filter, regulator and lubricator modules.

What these specs mean in practice

Because it is a 3/2 rather than a simple 2/2 ball valve, closing it does two jobs at once: cut supply and dump trapped downstream air. That is what lets it serve as the lockout isolation point on a machine skid. Manual actuation means there is no voltage to match and nothing to wire — a common reason buyers choose the BAV over the electrically operated AS1-SOV in the same envelope.

The connection is G 1/4 BSPP parallel thread. G and NPT are not interchangeable; a G port needs a bonded-seal or O-ring fitting, not tapered pipe dope.

Quantity and configuration

One shut-off valve module. Removed unused from an R480342567 air preparation unit, so it is a new take-out rather than a boxed retail item.

Fitting notes

Check what your existing chain uses for its connection plates and clamps — AS1 modules join with series-specific connectors, and a module pulled from one unit does not always arrive with the mating plate, bracket or clamp from the unit it left. Confirm air-flow direction (left or right supply) against your assembly, as AS1 modules are built in both hands.

Interchange guidance

R412014742 is the same valve with the opposite (right-to-left) flow direction — a related version, not a drop-in substitute if your chain flows the other way. The AS2 series equivalent (R412006260, AS2-SOV-G014-MAN) is the next size class up and does not fit an AS1 chain.
