The Triconex 4211 is a Remote Extender Module (RXM) for the Tricon safety system — specifically the single-mode fibre optic remote variant, SRXM. This unit is drawing revision A9. US-made new old stock.
Used with a matching primary RXM, it repeats and extends the Tricon I/O bus over single-mode fibre so a remote I/O chassis can sit up to 7.5 miles (12 km) from the primary site, which is what makes it possible to instrument a tank farm, jetty, pipeline station or remote compressor house from one safety controller. Because the link is optical it also provides ground-loop isolation between sites, removing the earth-potential problems that plague long copper runs.
