A Fanuc A20B-8100-0460 main CPU board, revision 07E — the processor motherboard of a Fanuc Series 160i-A CNC control. This is the top-tier board in the control: it carries the CNC processor, the working DRAM, the flash memory that holds the CNC system software, and the sockets and connectors for the plug-in option modules, the LCD unit and the servo and spindle interfaces. Everything else in the control hangs off it.
This is a CPU-tier board, not an expansion or option card. Supplied as a bare board — no enclosure, no display, no power supply.
A20B – Fanuc printed-circuit-board prefix. On the i-series controls A20B covers the integrated CPU motherboards as well as the smaller sub-boards; A16B is the prefix used on the older large multi-layer master cards.8100 – the control generation group. The 8100 group belongs to the Fanuc i-series generation, this board specifically to the Series 160i-A.0460 – the specific board within that generation./07E – the board edition, or revision level. A revision suffix, not a different part. Editions of the same base number are normally interchangeable, but on a CPU board the edition can matter because the CNC system software must be a version the hardware edition supports.
Function: main CPU board / motherboard, Fanuc Series 160i-A CNCProcessor: integrated Intel MMX Pentium class, 100 MHzWorking memory: 64 MB DRAMSystem memory: 8 MB FROM (flash ROM)Provision for LCD mounting and for plug-in modules covering memory, graphics and I/O expansionSupports multi-axis servo and spindle coordination and the 160i built-in PC functions
The 8 MB is FROM — flash ROM — not SRAM. That distinction matters: FROM holds the CNC system software and any custom macro or C Executor application, while the volatile SRAM that holds your parameters, tool offsets and part programs is battery-backed and lives elsewhere in the control. Fitting a replacement CPU board therefore does not bring your machine data with it, and it does not bring the machine builder’s software with it either — the FROM contents belong to the machine, and a board from a different machine may carry a different software series and edition.
Because the Series 160i is the CNC-with-built-in-PC variant, boards from the plain Series 16i/18i/21i family are a different base number and are not substitutes. Match the number silk-screened on your board exactly.
Bare board only. This listing does not include the control enclosure or card rack, the CNC power supply, the LCD or CRT display unit, the operator panel or MDI keyboard, the servo or spindle amplifiers, FSSB fibre or servo cables, ribbon or flat cables, connector or terminal-block kits, plug-in memory / graphics / I/O option modules, a memory card or CompactFlash, the SRAM backup battery, a hard disk or PC option card, or any CNC system software, ladder program, parameter file or option-enable code. No warranty of the FROM contents is offered — assume the CNC software must be loaded and the parameters restored from your own backup.
Sold as 1 piece — one bare main CPU board. New old stock, in an opened box.
Back up parameters, PMC ladder, macros and tool data before you touch the control. Power down and lock out, and let the power supply bleed down before removing anything. Handle the board by the edges with a wrist strap; the DRAM and flash devices are static-sensitive. Photograph every connector, ribbon and fibre landing and the position of each plug-in module before removal, and move the plug-in modules across in the same slots. Expect to reload the CNC system software and restore parameters, then run the axes clear of hard stops on first commissioning.
Searchable equivalents of the same part number: A20B-8100-0460, A20B81000460, A20B 8100 0460, A20B-8100-0460/07E, A20B81000460 07E. Other editions of the same base number are the same part at a different revision level. Adjacent 8100-group numbers such as A20B-8100-0620 or A20B-8100-0661 are different boards, not equivalents.
