What these specs mean in practice

A tapered roller bearing is a two-piece assembly and the cup is half of it. Interchange applies at cup level: another manufacturer’s 572 flanged cup in Class 3 fits the same housing and pairs with the same cones. The plain 572 cup without the B flange is a related part rather than an interchange, because it needs a housing shoulder for axial location. Ratings quoted for a 580/572 or 582/572 assembly apply to the complete set, not to this cup on its own.
