Both halves. Cone and cup are supplied together as the matched set, which makes this a complete usable bearing rather than a single component. A great many tapered roller listings are one half only; this one is not.
Cone and cup are engineered as a pair. The pairing sets the contact angle, the load ratings and the internal setting, so a cone run against a cup it was not designed for will assemble but will not reach its rated life. Class 3 tightens bore, OD and running accuracy beyond standard class without changing the mounting dimensions, so a Class 3 set drops straight into a standard housing — you get better accuracy and smoother running, not a different fit. A single-row tapered roller bearing takes thrust in one direction only, so shafts normally run two opposed; that opposition is also what lets the assembly be set to a specified end play or preload.

One complete set — one cone plus one cup. If the shaft runs two opposed bearings, order a set for each position.
Keep the cone and cup together as a pair rather than splitting them between positions. Heat or press the cone onto the shaft and press the cup squarely into the housing; never drive mounting force through the rollers and never press the cone via the cup. Tapered roller bearings carry no built-in internal clearance, so end play or preload has to be established at assembly to the machine builder’s figure using shims, a spacer or the adjusting nut. Since this is a Class 3 set, check the shaft and housing seats for wear first — the extra accuracy is lost on worn seats.
The set is referenced as 480/472, 480-472 and 480/472 set, with the -3 suffix denoting Class 3 precision. Related but NOT interchangeable: the standard-class 480/472 without -3 is a looser tolerance grade; a 480 cone or a 472 cup on its own is a component, not a bearing; and Timken numbers carrying a -90xxx suffix are complete factory assemblies, a third distinct category.
