| Additional Attributes | COMPLETE SET — cone assembly and cup both included, unlike cone-only or cup-only taper listings. The shared L4323 root is what identifies these two components as a matched pair; a cone and cup with different roots will not run together even if bore and outside diameter look plausible. Large bore in a shallow section, so this is an envelope-driven design rather than a maximum-capacity one. Never mix a new cone with a used cup. Adjustable: set end play or preload after fitting. A single-row tapered roller bearing in the ANSI L-series, supplied as a complete set: the L432349 cone assembly plus its L432310 cup. Bore 6.250 in (158.75 mm), cup outside diameter 8-3/32 in (8.09375 in / 205.58 mm).
Worth stating plainly, because so many taper listings are one half of a bearing: both components are here. The cone brings its own rollers and cage, the cup is the mating outer race, and the two are the correct pairing for each other.
In the ANSI/ABMA L-series convention, the number pair identifies a matched cone and cup: L432349 is the cone and L432310 is the cup. The shared “L4323” root is what marks them as a pair — a habit worth knowing, because a cone and cup with different roots will not run together even if the bore and outside diameter look plausible.
This is a large-bore, comparatively shallow-section taper bearing: 6.250 in of bore inside only 8.09 in of outside diameter. That geometry says the design priority was fitting a big shaft through a constrained housing, not maximising capacity. Expect good radial capacity for its section and useful thrust in one direction, but treat it as a bearing chosen for envelope rather than for brute load rating.
Like all single-row tapers it takes thrust one way only, so it must be opposed — normally by a second taper bearing at the other end of the shaft, set against it to establish end play or preload.
No dynamic or static load rating and no assembled width figure is published for this designation by a source we will stand behind, so those cells are deliberately left blank. We have not estimated them from the envelope or borrowed them from a neighbouring L-series number. The bore and outside diameter above are as recorded on the item. Contact us if you need the assembled width and we will measure the set in hand.
The original description asserted that the bearing was “designed and manufactured in the United States” and referred to “Bower’s decades of expertise” as a guarantee of performance. Bower is a long-established American tapered roller bearing brand, and the condition record for this item does note US origin — but we have removed the marketing framing and confined the origin statement to the condition field, where it belongs as a carton reading rather than a published specification.
One complete cone and cup set.
Press the cup squarely into the housing bearing on its back face, never on the raceway or the thin small-end rim, which chips easily. Press the cone onto the shaft with force on the inner-ring back face only, never through the cage or rollers. Both must seat fully against their shoulders. Tapered roller bearings are adjustable: set the assembly to the equipment manufacturer’s end play or preload figure once both bearings on the shaft are fitted. Never mix a new cone with a used cup or vice versa — the raceways wear into each other and a mixed pairing concentrates load on part of the roller length.
L432349 and L432310 are industry-standard inch tapered designations, offered by multiple manufacturers, so same-number substitution across brands is generally valid on geometry. Bower is one of the legacy American taper brands whose numbering was absorbed into the wider ANSI standard, which is why the same numbers appear in several catalogues today. Identify by the number pair rather than the brand.
