A double-row spherical roller bearing on the ISO 22211 envelope — 55 mm bore, 100 mm outside diameter, 25 mm width — with a 1:12 tapered bore, C3 internal clearance, the W33 lubrication feature and Torrington’s VCF glass-fibre reinforced polyamide cage. Two rows of barrel-shaped rollers run against a single spherical outer raceway, so the inner ring, rollers and cage swivel bodily inside the outer ring and the bearing accommodates misalignment without loading the roller ends.
222 – ISO dimension series 222, the wider and higher-capacity of the two common spherical roller series.

K – tapered bore, 1:12 taper.
VCF – Torrington’s cage code for a high-performance glass-fibre reinforced polyamide cage. This is the one letter group on the part number that changes the bearing’s temperature ceiling, so it is the one to read first.
W33 – lubrication groove machined around the outer ring with three radial oil holes through it.
C3 – radial internal clearance greater than normal.
The polyamide cage is chosen for speed, quietness and weight, not for heat. Torrington rates the VCF cage to 250 °F (120 °C) continuous with intermittent excursions to 300 °F (149 °C). Inside that window it is an excellent cage: low mass means low centrifugal loading on the cage bars, the plastic is forgiving of momentary lubrication starvation, and it runs quieter than pressed steel. Above that window it is the wrong part — the cage, not the raceways, becomes the life-limiting component. If the housing runs hot, or the duty involves steam, hot process air or radiant heat, specify the steel-caged CJ or VJ build or the bronze-caged BR instead.
C3 clearance fails in both directions if it is mismatched. Above-normal clearance is right where the mounting will consume some of it — a heavy interference fit expands the inner ring, and a hot inner ring against a cooler housing does the same. Put a normal-clearance bearing into that duty and it runs preloaded and hot; put C3 into a cool, slow, lightly loaded seat that was designed for normal clearance and it runs looser than intended, with roller skidding and noise. Match what the machine was designed around.

Sold as 1 Pc — one complete double-row spherical roller bearing: outer ring, inner ring, two rows of rollers and the polyamide cages, assembled. Open on both faces, no seals and no shields. The H311 adapter sleeve, lock nut and lock washer are separate items and are not included.
To mount on a plain 50 mm shaft, use an H311 adapter sleeve with its lock nut and lock washer; the sleeve’s tapered outside diameter matches the 55 mm 1:12 bore. Alternatively the bearing sits on a shaft seat cut to a 1:12 taper.
One rule specific to a polyamide cage: do not heat-mount it. Induction heaters and hot-oil baths routinely take a bearing to 250 °F or beyond, which is exactly the cage’s continuous limit. Draw this bearing up its taper cold, mechanically. Set the drive-up by measuring residual radial clearance with a feeler gauge across the unloaded roller row before and after, working to the C3 residual figure for your shaft — not by tightening the nut until it stops.
Torrington was absorbed into Timken. Polyamide-caged tapered-bore interchanges on this envelope include SKF 22211 EK/C3 with a TN9 polyamide cage where offered, FAG 22211-E1-K-TVPB-C3, NSK 22211EAKE4C3 in the polyamide build and Koyo 22211RHKW33C3.
Steel- and bronze-caged builds of the same bearing — 22211KVJW33C3, 22211KCJW33C3, 22211KBRW33C3, Timken 22211KEJW33C3 — share the 55 × 100 × 25 envelope and the same fits, and are the right substitutes if the duty runs hotter than the polyamide limit. They are related builds with different cage materials rather than identical parts, and cage material moves the published load rating. The straight-bore 22211 is a related size only: a cylindrical bore cannot be mounted on an adapter sleeve.
