What these specs mean in practice

Standard bearing steel is dimensionally stable to roughly 120 °C; above that, retained austenite transforms over time and the rings grow, which loosens the housing fit and closes internal clearance. The S11 stabilising treatment pushes that limit to 200 °C, which is why this variant belongs on kiln fans, oven conveyors, dryer rolls and hot gas blowers. C3 clearance works with it: a hot inner ring expands faster than the outer, and starting from more than normal clearance stops the bearing running preloaded once at temperature. The spherical raceway absorbs shaft deflection and housing misalignment rather than turning it into edge loading, and because both roller rows share one race, thrust is carried in both directions.

Quantity and configuration

Sold as 1 Pc, one complete bearing with a straight bore. No adapter sleeve, lock nut, housing or seals are included, and none are required for a straight-bore mounting.

Fitting notes

The bearing presses onto a machined cylindrical shaft seat with force applied to the ring being fitted; induction heating suits the interference fit. The housing bore is a plain cylindrical seat, since the misalignment capability is internal to the bearing. At elevated temperature the shaft and housing fits are chosen with the thermal growth of both parts in mind, and one bearing position on the shaft is left free to expand axially. The open faces need lubricant from the housing and external sealing in a dirty environment.

Interchange guidance

A substitution needs the same envelope, straight bore, C3 clearance and high-temperature stabilisation: a 22207 in the 35 x 72 x 23 mm envelope specified with an S-class stabilising treatment, such as SKF 22207 E/C3 with VA405-class stabilisation, FAG 22207-E1-C3 with an S-suffix variant, or NTN 22207EAD1C3 in a stabilised grade. A standard 22207 without stabilisation shares the envelope and will fit, but it is rated only to about 120 °C, so it is a related version rather than an equivalent in a hot position. The tapered-bore 22207-K is a different part that needs an adapter sleeve.
