Two rows of short cylindrical rollers give this bearing its radial stiffness — a machine tool spindle uses an NN30 as the front radial member and takes thrust on a separate angular contact set. Cylindrical rollers carry radial load only, so there is no contact angle. The tapered bore is the adjustment mechanism: driving the inner ring up the journal expands it and sets the running clearance to the CC1 band. P4 tolerances hold the bore, outside diameter and runout tight enough for the 12,500 rpm oil-air figure to be usable.
Roller circumscribed circle diameter Ew: 81 mm. Outer-ring lubrication holes: 4 holes at 2 mm diameter, feeding from a 3.5 mm wide oil groove. Recommended grease quantity: 2.0 g per bearing. The 1:12 bore seats directly on a tapered spindle journal. Mounted clearance bands available on this size: CC0 10 to 20 micron, CC1 15 to 35 micron, CC9 5 to 15 micron.
