MRC 1916R single-row angular contact ball bearing. Bore 80 mm, outside diameter 110 mm, width 16 mm. Straight bore, open on both faces, one row of balls running on offset raceway lands.
1916 places the bearing in MRC’s 1900 extra-light series, where the last two digits multiplied by five give the bore in millimetres: 16 x 5 = 80 mm. The 80 x 110 x 16 mm envelope corresponds to the ISO 719 dimension series, the thinnest of the standard angular contact sections. R is MRC’s series suffix.
A 15 mm radial section and a 16 mm width make this one of the slimmest angular contact sections available at an 80 mm shaft, which is why the series is used on machine-tool spindles, indexing heads and instrument drives where housing bore is limited. Angular contact geometry takes thrust in one direction only, so the bearings are normally installed in pairs or sets so that each unit carries thrust in its own direction. Increasing raceway offset trades speed capability for thrust capacity.

The high face is the thrust face and the low face carries the counterbore, so orientation determines the direction of thrust support. Mounting force is applied to the ring being fitted, squarely against its own face, and the bearing is located axially against a shaft shoulder and a housing shoulder or endcap.
The 80 x 110 x 16 mm envelope is the ISO 71916 seat, so a 71916 from any maker fits the same shaft and housing. Contact angle within that envelope is set by the brand suffix and varies between executions, so a 71916 CD at 15 degrees and a 71916 ACD at 25 degrees are related sizes on the same seats rather than direct equivalents.
