What these specs mean in practice

The spherical outer raceway lets the roller set and inner ring swivel inside the outer ring, so a shaft running slightly out of line with its housing still loads the rollers evenly. That is why this bearing type dominates long conveyor and fan shafts where alignment cannot be held to a fine tolerance.

Two opposed roller rows mean the bearing carries thrust in both directions as well as radial load, so a separate thrust bearing is often unnecessary in the arrangement.

C3 clearance leaves more room between rollers and raceways than the normal class. That extra room is consumed by thermal growth of the inner ring and by an interference shaft fit, which is why C3 is the usual specification where the shaft runs hotter than the housing or where the fit is tight.

The polyamide cage is light and quiet and tolerates momentary shock better than a pressed-steel cage, with a continuous service ceiling of 120 °C. Above that, or in oil containing aggressive additives, a brass or steel cage variant is the correct specification.

Quantity and configuration

One bearing ships. The bore is cylindrical, so the bearing mounts directly on a plain shaft seat and no adapter sleeve applies. Housings, seals, lock nuts and locking hardware are supplied separately.

Fitting notes

A cylindrical-bore spherical roller of this size normally takes an interference fit on the shaft and is mounted by induction heating to around 80 to 100 °C above ambient, drawn on square, and held until the ring grips. Grease reaches the centre of the roller set through the outer-ring groove and holes, so the housing lubrication port lines up with the groove. Residual clearance after mounting is checked by feeler gauge across the unloaded top roller.
