An SKF 6215 Y single-row deep groove ball bearing, 75 mm bore, 130 mm outside diameter, 25 mm width, open on both faces. The balls run in deep circumferential grooves cut in both rings, and it is that groove depth which lets a deep groove bearing take axial load in either direction as well as radial load.
The 62 dimension series is the medium deep groove series and the trailing 15 is the bore code, giving 75 mm. Y specifies a pressed brass cage in place of the pressed steel cage of the standard build — the same brass-cage convention that appears as CY on SKF spherical roller bearings. There is no closure suffix, so both faces are open, and no N or NR, so the outer ring has no snap ring groove. The C782 block is not part of the published SKF suffix scheme and is carried here as a searchable reference rather than as a specification.
A deep groove ball bearing is the lowest-friction and highest-speed of the common bearing types for a given envelope, carrying radial load together with moderate thrust in both directions from a single row. Cage material is what separates this bearing from a standard 6215: a pressed brass cage tolerates higher temperature, vibration and marginal lubrication than pressed steel, and it changes the bearing’s published speed and load figures, which is why the cage letter is part of the part number rather than a build detail. With both faces open, lubrication and sealing are provided by the housing rather than by the bearing.
1 Pc. Straight bore, mounting directly onto a cylindrical shaft seat. Open both faces. No snap ring supplied and no groove to take one.
Mounting force is applied through the ring being fitted and is never transmitted across the balls from one ring to the other. An interference fit on the inner ring of a bearing this size is made by even heating rather than by pressing.
The 6215 base number is common to every maker at 75 x 130 x 25 mm, and an open example with a brass cage is the genuine substitution: FAG 6215-M, NSK 6215M and NTN 6215G1. A standard steel-cage 6215 shares the envelope at different published ratings, a 6215-2RS1 or 6215-2Z adds seals or shields, and a 6315 is the heavier 63 series on the same bore; those are related sizes rather than substitutions.
