69 series: thin section, a 40 mm cross-section on a 280 mm outside diameter, so the bearing fits where a medium-section 62 or 63 would not. M: machined brass cage, in place of the pressed steel cage used on the standard 6940. C3: radial internal clearance greater than normal. Equivalent ISO designation: 61940. Basic dynamic load rating: 157 kN (35 296 lbf). Basic static load rating: 168 kN (37 767 lbf). Limiting speed: 2 600 rpm on oil, 2 200 rpm on grease. C3 clearance leaves running clearance where the inner ring runs hotter than the outer, or where an interference fit on both rings would otherwise preload the bearing. A machined brass cage tolerates higher temperature, shock loading and marginal lubrication better than a pressed steel cage.
