What these specs mean in practice

The tapered bore is the fit decision and the thing to check before ordering. A K bearing will not press onto a plain cylindrical shaft seat. You either have a shaft machined with a matching 1:12 taper, or you mount the bearing on an adapter sleeve — H 310 for this size, which seats on a plain 45 mm shaft — locked with a nut and lock washer.

On a taper, drive-up distance is how you set the running clearance. The further you push the inner ring up the cone, the more the ring expands and the more internal clearance you consume, so mounting is a measured operation: check the clearance reduction with a feeler gauge or a dial indicator as you tighten, and stop at the figure the machine specification calls for. That controllability is exactly why tapered-bore spherical rollers are preferred on driven pulleys and mill shafts — you can set clearance in the field without regrinding anything.

The W33 groove and its three radial holes feed grease or oil in through the outer ring directly between the two roller rows, which is how you relubricate without stripping the housing. It needs a housing with a lube port aligned to the groove, typically a split plummer block; in a plain housing the groove sits idle and does no harm.
