A single row barrel roller bearing in the FAG 203xx dimension series, 70 mm bore, 150 mm outside diameter, 35 mm width, fitted with a machined brass cage. The rolling elements are convex barrel-shaped rollers running in a hollow-ground spherical outer raceway, which gives the bearing self-aligning capability about its own centre while carrying radial load in a single row.
In the FAG scheme 203 is the single row barrel roller dimension series and the final two digits are the ISO bore code, multiplied by five to give the bore in millimetres — 14 therefore reads 70 mm. MB is a machined brass cage guided on the inner ring. A barrel roller is a distinct bearing family from the double row spherical roller of the 222xx and 223xx series, despite the similar spherical outer raceway.
A single row of barrel rollers carries radial load and accommodates static and dynamic misalignment of the shaft relative to the housing. Axial capacity is not a property of this design: the roller profile and the spherical outer raceway leave no shoulder to react thrust, so axial location is taken elsewhere in the shaft system. Compared with a double row spherical roller of the same envelope, the single row barrel is shallower, lighter and cheaper, and suits arrangements where radial load and misalignment are the whole requirement.
A machined brass cage tolerates higher temperature and more shock and vibration than a pressed steel cage, and is dimensionally stable under sustained load. Brass cages are the usual choice in heavy mill, crusher, fan and gearbox positions where a polyamide cage would reach its temperature ceiling.
1 Pc. Straight cylindrical bore, no taper, so no adapter sleeve is involved. Open on both faces — no seals, no shields, no lubrication groove or holes in the outer ring, and no snap ring.
Bore form: straight cylindrical, for an interference fit on the shaft. Housing seat alignment: the spherical outer raceway means the outer ring seat does not need to be aligned to the inner ring seat within the usual close tolerance, and the bearing takes up residual misalignment on assembly.
The direct equivalents are other makers’ 20314 barrel roller bearings of the same series and cage class. A 22314 or 21314 shares the 70 x 150 envelope family but is a double row spherical roller with thrust capability in both directions and a different load rating, so it is a related size rather than an interchange. Changing the cage code changes the speed and temperature rating.
