What this isOne (1) RHP 1040-40G Self-Lube bearing insert for a 40 mm shaft. A single row deep groove ball bearing in a spherical outer ring, so it self-aligns in its housing, with an extended inner ring locked to the shaft by two knurled cup-point set screws. It has a relubrication facility, so it can be regreased in service. Insert only, no housing.

Made in England. Supplied in its original RHP Self-Lube box marked 1040 40 G; the box shows wear and the insert has been rewrapped in clear plastic. It fits RHP and NSK-RHP Self-Lube housings for a 40 mm shaft (NP40 pillow block, SF40 and SFT40 flanges, FC40, ST40) and shares its principal dimensions with the UC208, 40 x 80 x 49.2 mm.

How the part number breaks down10 — spherical outside diameter. RHP uses 11 for a parallel OD, and 12 and 13 for the short inner ring versions.

40 — the basic size, which sets the 80 mm outside diameter and the housing it fits. On the standard part it matches the bore; the same size is also made with other bores, such as the 1040-35G and 1040-1.1/2G.
