| Compatible With Replaces | Same-envelope alternates: THK VRT series cross roller tables, IKO cross roller tables and NB / Nippon Bearing equivalents. Match table length, width, height and stroke together - a shorter table in the same series shares the footprint but gives less travel and less load capacity. |
| Additional Attributes | Table length L 55 mm; table width W 60 mm; overall height M 28 mm; maximum stroke 30 mm; crossed roller design gives line rather than point contact, so higher rigidity and load capacity than a ball guide of the same envelope with minimal elastic deflection; series number 3 fixes the 60 mm width and 28 mm height across the family, only length and stroke vary; over-travel beyond the published stroke damages the roller retainer; table and bed are a matched pre-loaded assembly and must not be separated; LOAD RATINGS, PERMISSIBLE MOMENT, ACCURACY GRADE AND ROLLER COUNT NOT STATED - THK publishes these per size and the accessible sources for VRU3055 list dimensions only; roller count scales with table length so figures from VRU3180 do not transfer; request the THK VRU3055 datasheet if load capacity is a design constraint; Made in Japan per carton |

The carton reads VRU3055, not RU3055. The THK box label reads THK LM SYSTEM / THK.CO.LTD. MADE IN JAPAN / VRU3055 / T5I14X / 1 SET. THK’s cross roller table series is VRU (full base) and VRT; a bare “RU” prefix belongs to a different THK product family entirely (cross roller rings). Both spellings are indexed here so either search lands on this page. The previous description scrambled the dimensions – it said “55mm stroke length, 60mm length, 28mm width, 30mm height”. The correct reading, consistent with THK’s VRU tables, is table length L = 55 mm, table width W = 60 mm, table height M = 28 mm, maximum stroke = 30 mm. Cross-check: the sibling VRU3180 in the same series-3 size is published at L = 180 mm, W = 60 mm, M = 28 mm – the width and height are set by the series number (3), only the length and stroke change. The title figures are right; the old description had them shuffled.
What a cross roller table is, and why you would choose one:
A cross roller table is a finite-stroke linear guide unit: crossed cylindrical rollers run in ground V-grooves between a machined table and a machined bed, with the table travelling a fixed distance rather than recirculating along a rail. THK describes the design as high rigidity, high precision and compact.
The trade-offs against a recirculating LM guide are worth spelling out:
Rollers, not balls. Line contact instead of point contact means markedly higher load capacity and rigidity for the same envelope, and almost no elastic deflection under load. That is the whole reason a metrology stage uses one.Crossed at 90 degrees. Alternating roller orientation carries load and moment in all four directions with one row, so there is no need for a second rail to resist lift or side load.Finite stroke. There is no return path, so travel is limited to the published maximum – 30 mm here. You cannot get more travel out of it by pushing harder, and over-travel damages the roller retainer.Ready to bolt down. This is a complete unit with the table, bed, rollers and retainer assembled and pre-adjusted. You are not aligning two rails on a machined surface, which is exactly why these turn up on short-stroke adjustment axes where setup time dominates cost.

Load ratings, permissible moment, accuracy grade and roller count are not stated. THK publishes these per size in its Cross-Roller Table catalogue, and the distributor pages accessible for this size list dimensions only. Borrowing figures from the VRU3180 or another length would be wrong – roller count scales with table length, so basic dynamic and static load ratings differ between VRU3055 and VRU3180 even though the cross-section is identical. Request the THK datasheet for VRU3055 if load capacity is a design constraint.
Mount on a flat, clean, burr-free surface – the accuracy of a cross roller table is only as good as the plate it is bolted to, and the unit’s own rigidity will transmit rather than absorb a twisted mounting face. Do not dismantle the table from the bed: the rollers and retainer are matched and pre-loaded as an assembly. Grease is factory-applied; the unit is not intended to be run dry.
Each unit is one cross roller table. The THK carton is marked 1 SET, and the photograph shows a single table with its single box. Four units are in stock, so multiples ship as four separate boxed tables – not as a matched or paired assembly. If you need two tables stacked for XY motion, order two and expect two independent units.
Cross-shop against THK’s VRT series (the other cross roller table type), and against IKO’s cross roller table range and NB / Nippon Bearing equivalents of the same envelope. Confirm table length, width, height and stroke together – all four have to match, because a shorter table in the same series will bolt to the same footprint but give you less travel and less load capacity.
