Two corrections to the previous copy:
The description this listing carried before was wrong on two counts, and both matter:

It called the unit a single-phase device. It is not. The VLT 2840 in this configuration is a three-phase drive: mains input is 3 x 380-480 V. The photographs show the three-terminal MAINS block alongside the BRAKE and MOTOR blocks on the base of the chassis. It described IP20 as protection against “dust and water splashes”. IP20 means protection against solid objects larger than 12.5 mm and no water protection at all – the second digit is zero. This drive belongs inside a cabinet. If you need splash or washdown protection you need an enclosed drive or an IP-rated enclosure around it.

Identification:
Danfoss ordering number 195N1075, type code VLT2840PT4B20STR1DBF00A00C0. Danfoss’s own product record for 195N1075 gives 4.0 kW / 5.0 HP, 3 x 380-480 V 50/60 Hz supply, 8.1 A input current, IP20 bookstyle enclosure, integral RFI filter to EN 55011 class A1, and no fieldbus option fitted. The chassis carries UNIT ID 001.191.059.

Type code, the parts that decide fit:
2840 – VLT 2800 series, 4.0 kW frameT4 – three-phase 380-480 V supply. There is also a T2 (200-240 V) family; they are not interchangeable.B20 – bookstyle IP20 enclosure. This is the whole point of the VLT 2800: narrow and deep rather than wide and flat, designed for side-by-side mounting with no clearance gap between units. If you are replacing a compact-format drive of a different make, check the depth as well as the width.R1 – integrated RFI filter, EN 55011 class A1. Useful: it means you may not need an external line filter to meet industrial EMC limits, provided the motor cable is screened and the screen is landed on the decoupling plate.F00 – no fieldbus option fitted. The 9-pin D-sub on the control card is the standard RS-485 / FC-protocol port, not Profibus.

What is physically on this unit:
From the photographs: integral keypad and display with STOP/RESET and START keys; the 9-pin D-sub serial port; the full plug-in control terminal strip (terminals 12, 18, 19, 20, 27, 29, 33, 42, 46, 50, 53, 55, 60 plus the relay block); the metal EMC decoupling plate and the separate mounting/backing plate; and the base terminal blocks marked MAINS, BRAKE and MOTOR. Brake terminals present means the drive can take an external braking resistor for fast decelerations and overhauling loads – worth having on a high-inertia fan or a lowering axis.

Fitting notes:
The EMC/decoupling plate is not decoration. Landing the motor-cable screen on it is what makes the R1 filter’s class A1 rating real; skip it and the drive will still run but the installation will radiate.Bookstyle drives depend on convection through the top and bottom, not the sides. Preserve the vertical clearance Danfoss specifies even when mounting units shoulder to shoulder. The VLT 2800 keypad is minimal by design – a laptop with the Danfoss software or a remote LCP is the practical way to set up more than a handful of parameters.

Obsolescence and interchange:
The VLT 2800 is a legacy Danfoss series, listed by Danfoss itself under Legacy Drives. Its functional successors are the VLT Micro Drive FC 51 (for simpler duties) and the VLT AutomationDrive FC 302 / FC 360, none of which share the bookstyle footprint or the parameter map – a swap means a new cutout, new wiring and re-commissioning. That is exactly why a matching used or new-old-stock 2840 is worth having for an installed machine. Other numbers seen against this exact drive include the alternative Danfoss code 178F4866 for a VLT2840 4 kW unit; within the series the neighbouring ratings are the VLT 2830 (3 kW) and VLT 2855 (5.5 kW).

Condition and quantity:
One used drive as photographed, complete with cover, keypad, control terminal blocks, EMC decoupling plate and mounting plate. No braking resistor, line reactor, remote LCP, fieldbus card or documentation. Being a used unit, expect the previous machine’s parameter set to still be loaded; initialise and re-commission for your motor.
