What this part is

An AVENTICS Series AS1-SOV solenoid-operated 3/2 directional valve — the electrically actuated soft-start / dump valve module that sits at the head of a modular G1/4 air preparation unit. Energised, it passes supply air to the downstream chain; de-energised it closes the supply and exhausts trapped downstream pressure to atmosphere. It is a poppet valve with an internal pilot, so it needs no external pilot line, and it is block-assemblable within the AS1 modular chain.

Correcting the source data

Earlier copy described this as a flow control valve. It is not: the SOV designation and the 3/2 in the order code make it a 3/2 directional shut-off / dump valve. It switches air fully on or fully off — it does not meter flow, and it will not work as a speed control.

What these specs mean in practice

The coil is 24 V DC — the single most-asked question on a valve like this, and it cannot be rewired for mains. The electrical interface is ISO 15217 form C, so you connect it with a form C (8 mm) valve plug; a cordset or plug is not included, and the AS1 solenoid is also available in an M12x1 version which this one is not.

Minimum working pressure is 2 bar. Below that the internal pilot has nothing to work with and the valve will not shift reliably, which is why an internally piloted poppet cannot be used on a low-pressure or vacuum circuit.

Nominal flow of 2000 l/min at G1/4 is generous for the port size and is what makes the SOV suitable as a machine dump valve, where the point is to exhaust a whole manifold quickly rather than to feed one cylinder.

Quantity and configuration

One valve module. Removed unused from an R480342567 air preparation unit — a new take-out, not a boxed retail item. Form C valve plug and any connection plates or clamps are not part of this listing.

Fitting notes

Check the flow hand (left or right air supply) against your existing chain, as AS1 modules are built both ways. Filter the supply air to at least 25 µm ahead of the valve; a soft-seal poppet is unforgiving of scale and pipe swarf. Keep oil carry-over inside the 0–5 mg/m³ window published for the series.

Interchange guidance

R412010680 and R412010681 are the same 2000 l/min AS1-SOV function in left- and right-supply builds — related versions, so confirm hand and voltage before treating one as a substitute. R412014744 is another AS1-SOV variant. The manually operated AS1-BAV shut-off valve occupies the same envelope but has no coil, so it is an alternative only if you do not need electrical control.
