| Manufacturer Status | NTN's current-production design for this envelope is the ULTAGE 22210EAW33. NTN acquired SNR Roulements outright by 2013, trading as NTN-SNR and now NTN Europe. |
| Compatible With Replaces | Related size, not a drop-in: 22210K / 22210CKW33 / 22210 EK are the tapered-bore (1:12) versions of this envelope and require an H310 adapter sleeve on a 45 mm shaft. 22210CW33C3 is the same bearing in C3 clearance rather than Normal. |
| Additional Attributes | Straight cylindrical bore. Non-separable assembly. Self-aligning, accommodates static and dynamic shaft-to-housing misalignment. NTN C denotes internal design, not clearance. Requires a housing lubrication port aligned with the outer-ring groove to make use of the W33 feature. |

A double-row spherical roller bearing, 50 mm bore x 90 mm outside diameter x 23 mm wide, in the ISO 222 dimension series. Two rows of barrel rollers run on one spherical outer raceway, so the inner ring and roller set swivel bodily inside the outer ring. That self-aligning action absorbs shaft deflection and housing misalignment that would destroy a cylindrical roller or deep groove ball bearing in the same envelope, while carrying very heavy radial load and thrust in both directions.
222 — double-row spherical roller bearing, dimension series 22.
10 — bore code for a 50 mm bore.
C — on NTN this is an internal design code, not a clearance code. It denotes NTN’s small-bore spherical roller construction: symmetrical barrel rollers, a two-piece pressed steel cage, and a floating centre guide ring between the two roller rows. It is the most commonly misread character on the number, because a bare C looks like a clearance class on almost every other bearing family. It is not one here.
W33 — annular lubrication groove around the outer ring plus three lubrication holes through it.
D1 — the identical feature written in NTN’s Japanese suffix convention: oil groove and oil inlet holes. 22210CW33 and 22210CD1 are the same bearing under two of NTN’s own naming systems, which is why both designations are carried on this listing.
There is no clearance suffix, so the bearing carries Normal (CN) radial internal clearance. There is no K, so the bore is straight.
The floating centre guide ring is what defines NTN’s C design. It sits between the two roller rows and keeps them square to the raceway without being rigidly fixed to either ring, which helps the rollers track properly under combined and reversing load. The two-piece pressed steel cage is good for roughly 200 °C, far above what a moulded polyamide cage will tolerate.
The lubrication groove and holes deserve specific mention on this part, because NTN’s C-type spherical roller bearings do not carry them as standard — they have to be ordered in, which is exactly what the W33 or D1 in this designation records. If your housing has a grease port, this is the variant you want, since feeding lubricant straight into the roller rows is the largest single influence on how long a spherical roller bearing survives. It also means the housing lubrication port has to line up with the groove; in a plain bore the feature is simply unused.
Normal clearance suits a moderate shaft interference fit in a housing that does not run hot. Where the shaft fit is heavy or the machine runs warm, the C3 version of the same bearing is the correct pick, because the inner ring grows on the shaft and under heat and consumes the clearance you started with. Get it wrong in that direction and the bearing preloads itself, runs hot and fails early. Get it wrong the other way and you give up shaft location accuracy and gain noise.
The straight bore means this bearing goes directly onto a plain shaft seat — it is not a sleeve-mount bearing, which is the practical difference between it and a 22210K.
Sold as 1 Pc. One complete bearing: inner ring with both roller rows, cage and centre guide ring, plus the outer ring. Spherical roller bearings are a non-separable assembly, so there is no cup or cone to source separately. With a straight bore, no adapter sleeve, locknut or lockwasher is required or included.
Mount on the inner ring, never through the rollers. Heat the bearing to about 80 – 100 °C above the shaft in an induction heater or clean oil bath instead of pressing it on cold, because a bearing this size takes a real interference fit. Seat the outer ring squarely in the housing bore and let it take up its own alignment before the assembly is drawn down — clamping the outer ring off-neutral during build throws away the self-aligning capability. Align the housing lubrication port with the outer-ring groove and purge the groove with grease before the first run.
Dimensionally equivalent straight-bore 22210 bearings with the outer-ring groove and holes include NTN 22210EAW33 (NTN’s current ULTAGE high-capacity design for this envelope), SKF 22210 E, FAG 22210-E1-XL, NSK 22210EAE4, NTN-SNR 22210EAW33, Timken 22210EJW33, RHP 22210EJW33 and Nachi 22210EXW33. The lubrication codes differ across brands but describe the same feature: W33 on SKF, Timken, RHP and Nachi, E4 on NSK, S on FAG, D1 on NTN Japan, B33 on legacy SNR. The traps run both ways — SKF W on its own means the groove and holes are absent, and on SKF and Schaeffler the modern E and E1 designs include them as standard with no suffix at all. Any 22210K is the tapered-bore version, needing an H310 adapter sleeve on a 45 mm shaft: same envelope, different mounting, and a related size rather than a substitute for this part.
