| Manufacturer Status | NSK, current range (NSKHPS spherical roller family) |
| Additional Attributes | Chamfer r minimum 2.1 mm. Static rating exceeding dynamic rating is normal and correct for roller bearings and is not a data error. NSK publishes identical ratings for the tapered-bore version, so bore form affects mounting but not capacity. Mounting a 95 mm interference fit requires induction heating or an oil bath, never impact - hammering transmits load through the rollers and brinells the raceways invisibly. Do not heat a bearing above approximately 120 C. The E4 heat-stabilisation code is not glossed letter by letter in NSK's literature; NSK specifies dimensional stability to 200 C across the range. |

An NSK double-row spherical roller bearing, 95 mm bore × 170 mm outside diameter × 43 mm width, with a straight cylindrical bore and C3 internal clearance. Spherical roller bearings carry very heavy radial load while tolerating shaft misalignment and deflection, which puts them in conveyor pulleys, fans, crushers, screens, mill shafts and gearbox output positions.
222 — double-row spherical roller bearing, 22-dimension series.
19 — bore code, 95 mm.
EA — NSK’s high-capacity internal design with a wear-resistant nitrided pressed-steel cage, rollers guided by central cage flanges. NSK’s machined-brass counterpart design is coded CAM.
E4 — heat stabilisation. NSK specifies high-temperature dimensional stability to 200 °C across this range, though it does not gloss the code letter by letter, so treat the precise meaning as inferred.
C3 — radial internal clearance greater than normal. NSK’s clearance set for this range is C2, CN, C3, C4 and C5.
No K — and this absence matters. Without a K the bore is cylindrical, so the bearing mounts directly onto a plain shaft seat with an interference fit. No adapter sleeve is involved, and none is needed.
Straight bore or tapered — why the K matters:
Spherical roller bearings come in both bore forms and they look identical from the outside, so the suffix is the only way to tell before the box is open. A straight-bore bearing like this one is pressed or heat-fitted onto a shaft machined to an interference tolerance. Its tapered-bore sibling, coded K, mounts on a 1:12 taper — usually via an adapter sleeve that clamps onto a plain, smaller-diameter shaft with a nut and lockwasher, and whose drive-up distance sets the residual clearance during assembly.
The two are not interchangeable and the shaft diameter is different in each case. If your existing bearing came off an adapter sleeve, this straight-bore bearing is the wrong part; if it came off a plain interference-fit seat, it is the right one.
C3 provides more internal clearance than normal, and it is a considered choice rather than an upgrade. Extra clearance is called for when the inner ring runs substantially hotter than the outer — a driven shaft in a hot housing — because thermal expansion of the inner ring consumes clearance in operation, and when a heavy interference fit on the shaft will itself absorb clearance during mounting.
Clearance mismatches fail in both directions, which is worth stating plainly. Too little residual clearance preloads the rollers, temperature climbs and the bearing fails fast. Too much narrows the load zone, so rollers skid and slide rather than roll, and cage and raceway damage follows. If the machine specifies CN, do not substitute C3 on the assumption that looser is safer.
Dynamic load rating Cr — 415 kN
Static load rating Cor — 450 kN
Limiting speed — 3,000 rpm grease, 3,800 rpm oil
Chamfer r minimum — 2.1 mm
The static rating exceeding the dynamic rating is normal and correct for roller bearings and is not a data error — the same relationship holds throughout the spherical roller range. NSK publishes identical ratings for the tapered-bore version of this bearing, so bore form affects mounting but not capacity.
A 95 mm straight-bore bearing on an interference fit should be mounted by induction heating or an oil bath, not by hammering — impact load transmitted through the rollers causes brinelling that will not show up until the bearing is running. Never heat a bearing above roughly 120 °C. Support the ring being fitted, so mounting force never passes through the rollers from one ring to the other. Check that the housing bore and shaft seat are within tolerance and free of burrs before assembly, and confirm the residual clearance after mounting if the application is clearance-critical.
The 22219 base number and the 95 × 170 × 43 envelope are ISO standard, so equivalents exist across every major maker: SKF 22219 E/C3, FAG 22219-E1-XL-C3, NTN 22219EAD1 and Timken 22219 in the same envelope. Take care with cage codes when cross-shopping — NSK EA, FAG E1 and E1A-XL, NTN EA and SKF E each denote that maker’s own high-capacity internal design, and the cage material is not the same between them, with pressed steel and machined brass both in use. The tapered-bore version, 22219EAKE4, shares every published rating but mounts entirely differently and is not a substitute. Add W33 to the search if your housing has a lubrication feed; this designation as marked does not include the W33 groove.
