A double-row spherical roller bearing is the choice where load is high and alignment cannot be guaranteed — conveyor pulleys, fans, crushers, vibrating equipment. Because both rows sit on one spherical outer race, thrust is carried in both directions and misalignment is absorbed without edge loading. The tapered bore is a mounting method rather than a shaft size: driving the bearing up the sleeve taper sets the internal clearance by controlled interference, which is why the C3 starting clearance matters. The lubrication groove and three holes let grease enter through the housing between the two roller rows, which is the correct feed path for a relubricated position. The polyamide cage is quiet and light with a 120 °C continuous ceiling; hotter service calls for a brass or steel cage variant.

Quantity and configuration

Sold as 1 Pc, one complete bearing. The adapter sleeve is not included: a tapered-bore 22205-K mounts on an H305 sleeve, which seats on a 20 mm shaft. The lock nut and lock washer that go with the sleeve are also not included, and no housing or seals are supplied.

Fitting notes

The bearing is driven up the sleeve taper until the required reduction in radial internal clearance is reached, and the lock nut on the sleeve holds that position. Clearance reduction rather than torque is the setting criterion, measured with a feeler gauge between an unloaded roller and the outer race. In the housing, the lubrication groove is aligned with the grease feed port so the three holes deliver between the roller rows. The open faces need external sealing where the environment is dirty.
