What these specs mean in practice

The eccentric cam collar has an off-centre bore that wedges against the extended inner race when rotated in the direction of shaft rotation, so drive torque tightens the grip. That holds better on soft, plated or lightly worn shafting than a setscrew biting into the surface, and it favours unidirectional drives. Fitting notes

The flange seats against a flat rigid face, shimmed where uneven, on two 7/16 in fasteners at 3-57/64 in centres. The flange bolts are drawn down first so the insert settles into its aligned seat, then the collar is rotated in the direction of shaft rotation and its setscrew tightened. Shaft seat is a commercial ground 1.000 in diameter over a 1.75 in length through the bore.

Interchange guidance

The Link-Belt F3Y216N is the same insert and bore in the four-bolt square flange casting, so it is a related size rather than an interchange. The FX3S216E substitutes setscrew locking for the eccentric collar in the same housing.
