An SKF 7216 CTC C78 angular contact ball bearing in the 80 x 140 x 26 mm envelope, ISO base number 7216. Single row, 15° contact angle, open on both faces.
7216 — single-row angular contact ball bearing, 72 medium series, 80 mm bore.
C — 15° contact angle.
TC — phenolic (fabric-laminate) ball cage.
A single-row angular contact ball bearing takes thrust in one direction, always alongside a radial load. At 15° the thrust capacity is lower than a 25° or 40° bearing of the same envelope, and the speed capability and heat behaviour are better, which is why the 15° form dominates high-speed spindle positions. The 72 medium section carries more load than the equivalent 70 light bearing at the same bore, in exchange for a larger outside diameter and more mass. A phenolic cage is dimensionally stable, quiet, and holds oil in the cage material, with a practical ceiling around 120 °C.

Sale unit is 1 Pc, a single bearing. The designation carries no duplex or preload code, so it stands as an individual bearing rather than half of a ground matched set.
The inner ring seats with light interference on a ground shaft and the outer ring to a close fit in the housing bore, each clamped against a face square to the axis. Locating a shaft in both directions calls for a second bearing opposed to this one; two 7216 C bearings back-to-back give the stiffest arrangement.
ISO envelope 7216 at 15°. Direct equivalents are other 7216 C bearings of matching cage and tolerance class, for example Fafnir 2MM216WI and NSK 7216CTY. Same-envelope bearings at a different angle — 7216 AC at 25°, 7216 B at 40° — are related sizes, not interchanges.
