TAC — NSK’s ball screw support bearing series. These are angular contact ball bearings built with a high contact angle and thick rings, so the assembly is stiff in the axial direction and holds a ball screw’s axial position under thrust.
55 — Bore Diameter: 55 mm.
100 — Outside Diameter: 100 mm.
A 20 mm width on a 55 mm bore and a 100 mm outside diameter gives a thick radial section for the width. The extra ring material is what makes the bearing axially stiff, which is the property a ball screw end support is selected for.
Axial stiffness at the screw end determines how closely a machine can hold position under cutting load, so ball screw support bearings are rated on stiffness and running accuracy rather than on radial capacity.
