A GE Fanuc Series 90-30 solenoid valve output module, IC693MDL760 — and it is a genuinely unusual card, because it plumbs as well as wires.
Pneumatic outputs: 11. Each one has its own internal 3-way solenoid-actuated valve and its own air fitting on the front panel. When the PLC turns an output on, that internal valve connects the supplied pressure source to the corresponding front-panel fitting.
Electrical outputs: 5 sourcing 24 V DC outputs, on the module’s DC Outputs connector.
The air switching happens inside the module: compressed air is piped in and pilot lines out, instead of wiring out to a separate valve bank. It is an output module only — there are no inputs on this card.
IC: GE Fanuc Automation industrial controls prefix.
693: the Series 90-30 PLC family. The GE Fanuc groups do not interchange: IC693 is Series 90-30, IC697 is Series 90-70, IC610 is Series One, IC600 is Series Six, IC630 is Series Three.
MDL: the module class for discrete I/O modules. Analog modules on this platform carry ALG and communications modules carry CMM.
760: the specific module, here the solenoid valve output. The number is the whole story on this platform: neighbouring MDL numbers are ordinary electrical output cards, so IC693MDL930 and IC693MDL940 are 16-point relay output modules, nothing to do with pneumatics.
B: the hardware revision letter. A revision suffix, not a different product; a -C revision of the same module also exists.
Function: solenoid valve output module, output only.
Pneumatic outputs: 11, each with an internal 3-way solenoid-actuated valve and a front-panel output fitting.
Maximum supplied pressure: 100 psi.
Electrical outputs: 5, sourcing, 24 V DC, on the DC Outputs connector.
Solenoid power: from an external 24 V DC source, applied to the front-panel DC Outputs connector.
Platform: GE Fanuc Series 90-30.
Slot width: one slot in a Series 90-30 baseplate.
The 100 psi ceiling is the maximum pressure the module may be presented with. Plenty of shop air headers run higher than that, so a regulator upstream of the module is part of the installation. Air also has to be clean and dry — these are small internal pilot valves, and water or scale will find them long before it bothers the rest of the pneumatics.
The solenoid power is external and separate. The 24 V DC that actuates the internal valves does not come from the backplane; it is supplied to the DC Outputs connector. If the module goes in and nothing moves, that supply is the first thing to check.
Eleven pneumatic and five electrical is not sixteen interchangeable points — they are two different kinds of output on one card.
Because the pneumatic outputs are only pilot-capacity 3-way valves, they are intended to pilot larger valves or drive small actuators directly. Downstream actuators are sized to the module’s flow, not to the main air line.
The module occupies one slot in a Series 90-30 baseplate, and Series 90-30 addressing follows slot position.
Maximum supplied pressure at the module is 100 psi, so a regulator and filtration sit upstream of it.
Solenoid actuation power is an external 24 V DC supply applied to the front-panel DC Outputs connector.
Sold as 1 piece — one solenoid valve output module. The Series 90-30 baseplate or rack, the rack power supply, the CPU, the external 24 V DC solenoid supply, the DC Outputs connector or terminal block, pneumatic tubing, fittings beyond those built into the front panel, an air regulator, filter or lubricator, downstream valves, cylinders or actuators, mounting hardware, a programmer, Proficy or Logicmaster software and cable, and documentation and ladder programs are each separate items.
Searchable forms of the same part: IC693MDL760B, IC693MDL760, IC693-MDL-760-B, IC693 MDL 760 B, IC693MDL760-B, IC693MDL760C. Other revision letters of IC693MDL760 are the same module at a different revision. Different parts: IC693MDL930 and IC693MDL940 are 16-point relay output modules with no pneumatic capability, and modules from the Series 90-70, Series One, Series Three or Series Six families are different platforms on different backplanes.
