A Fanuc machine operator’s panel unit, order code A02B-0236-C236, with the panel assembly number A860-02003-T001 marked on the unit. It is the operator interface that carries the symbolic keys and switches an operator uses to run the machine — mode selection, feed and rapid override, cycle start and feed hold, and the associated key matrix — and it reports those key states back to the CNC over the operator panel interface. Fanuc normally fits panels in this family on 0i-B, 0i-C, 0i-D and 16i / 18i / 21i-B and -C controls, including the 160i / 180i / 210i variants.
Tier and function, plainly: this is an operator panel unit, not an MDI keyboard and not a display. There is no CRT or LCD in the assembly, and it does not replace the MDI unit used for data entry and program editing. On machines where a single fascia combines MDI and operator panel functions, this is the operator-panel portion.
A02B — Fanuc CNC unit and option order-code prefix (complete units and assemblies rather than bare PCBs)0236 — the control group these options belong to; the 0236 group covers panels and options for the 0i and 16i/18i/21i generationsC236 — the specific option: this machine operator’s panel configurationA860-02003-T001 — the Fanuc assembly number for the panel unit itself, marked on the part; A860 numbers cover Fanuc operator panel and MDI-class assemblies
Type: machine operator’s panel unit (symbolic key operator interface)Order code: A02B-0236-C236Panel assembly number: A860-02003-T001Host controls: Fanuc 0i-B / 0i-C / 0i-D, and 16i / 18i / 21i / 160i / 180i / 210i-B and -C seriesFormat: panel-mount unit with connector interface to the CNC
Operator panels are configuration-specific. The key legend, switch layout and the way the key matrix is mapped into the PMC are set by the panel variant and by the machine builder’s ladder, so a panel with a different C-suffix may fit the same cut-out and still send the wrong signals. Match the C-suffix and the A860 assembly number, and confirm the connector type on your machine. It is also worth remembering that the ladder decides what the keys do — a correct panel on a machine whose PMC expects a different layout will produce keys that appear dead or that trigger the wrong function.
One operator panel unit.
Panel unit only. No CRT, LCD or display unit. No MDI keyboard or keypad unit. No CNC control, control boards or rack. No operator panel I/O module or interface board. No cables, harnesses or connector kits. No membrane overlay, legend plate, key caps, escutcheon or mounting hardware beyond what appears in the photographs. No emergency stop button assembly. No documentation.
Power the cabinet down before disconnecting the panel. Photograph the connector positions first — panel harnesses in this family use similar connectors in more than one position, and a transposed plug produces a panel that lights but does not respond. After fitting, verify each key and switch against the PMC diagnostic screen rather than by running the machine, and check that the override switches read across their full range.
A02B-0236-C236 and A02B0236C236 are the same order code; the unit is also identified by its A860-02003-T001 assembly number. Neighbouring codes such as A02B-0236-C230, -C231 and A02B-0236-C140 are operator and MDI panels in the same group but with different key layouts and functions — related options, not substitutes. Fanuc operator panels are proprietary with no cross-brand equivalent, and third-party replacement overlays do not change the key matrix.
